Yet they did pass away, because all these things did not come to pass in their lifetime. Therefore, generation is being said in respect to age, family or decent and not a time period of specific group.

The abomination of desolation does in fact already sit in the temple and has since day one of mankind, and that is our adversary in our own flesh temple

Take a look at the very end of the Matthew version of the Olivet Discourse concerning the answer to the question of when found in Matthew 24:3. It appears, at least to me, that the final statement is like a punch-line closing statement for the entire passage, (only in the Matthew version). However it seems that those who are predisposed to alternative viewpoints do not often have the patient endurance to continue reading that far along in search of the answer to the question, (it's a grueling two chapters and two verses).
