  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

A 7-Year-Old's Forgiveness to the Shooter Who Left Her Paralyzed—and Her Mother's Faith to See Her Walk Again

by CBS News Staff/AH : Aug 3, 2007 : CBS News
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/07/30/earlyshow/main3110717.shtml

"It's kind of hard (to forgive), but, as soon as you do it, it's not that hard anymore." –Kai Leigh Harriot (Age 7)

EDITOR'S NOTE: After reading a headline about this story recently, I knew it would be a special one, but when I found there was a video, I had to watch it, and then make it available to our readers. This little girl, and her mother, have given the world a truly remarkable example of the power of forgiveness...and faith. I would urge our readers to watch the CBS video, as well as visit the website established for little Kai...and of course, we can join with her family in praying for her healing. –Aimee Herd, BCN.

(Dorchester, Mass.)—Four years ago, Kai Leigh Harriot (age 3) was playing on her porch with her big sister Aja. On the street near the house, a man named Anthony Warren began to argue with the others he was with and suddenly, shots were fired into the air.

Those bullets found their way to where the girls were playing, and when one flew right past Aja's face, she quickly grabbed her little sister Kai, and ran inside the house.
It was then that Aja turned Kai over and found a pool of blood from where a bullet had entered her back and shattered her spine. The injured 3-year-old was rushed to the hospital where doctors spared her life, but diagnosed that she would likely never walk again—being paralyzed from the waist down.
kaileigh2.jpg
"I've never had anger," said Tonya, Kai's mother. "I don't know why I was given this cup to drink, but I never had anger for him." Perhaps some of Tonya's amazing attitude rubbed off on little Kai, as when the trial finally approached—3 years later—Kai insisted on being present to speak a word to her assailant. (Photo: www.sheshallwalkagain.org)
Kai (5-years-old by that time) took the stand and—looking directly at the shooter—said, "Anthony Warren, what you did was wrong, but I still forgive you." The action moved Warren, who then changed his plea to guilty and apologized. After the trial, Kai's mother, Tonya, not only shook his hand, but embraced Anthony Warren.

Tonya has set up a website for Kai, to visit it, CLICK HERE.

The Year of Favor, Breakthrough
and Enlargement

And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when he had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:

“The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD.”

Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on him. And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” (Luke 4:17-21)

The Year of the Favor of the LORD

After Jesus read from the prophet Isaiah, He sat down to make commentary on it, according to the custom of the synagogue. That is why all eyes were fixed on Him. What He said was astonishing: “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” The promise for which so many of them had watched and waited was now coming to pass in their midst. Jesus was proclaiming that the acceptable year of the LORD, the year of His favor, was now here—and He is the fulfillment!
Ever since then, every year has been the year of the LORD’s favor for all who look to Jesus and claim it by faith. It is just as true of the year 2006 as it was when Jesus first proclaimed it.

This is the year for the Holy Spirit of God to come upon you.

Jesus promised His disciples, “You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me” (Acts 1:8). This witness is the testimony of God’s great power and love in the work of Jesus Christ.

This is the year of anointing.

The anointing removes burdens and destroys yokes (Isaiah 10:27). Jesus is the Messiah, the Christ, God’s Anointed. All authority in heaven and earth belongs to Him, and He has commissioned His followers to minister with this same anointing (Matthew 28:18-20).

This is the year for good news to be preached to the poor.

Poverty is not good news, lack is no blessing. But the overflowing provision of God’s grace and power is wonderful news for all those who are poor in spirit, that is, those who trust in Him. “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, so that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8).

This is the year of healing for the brokenhearted.

Last year you may have felt defeated and crushed by the circumstances of life. You might be emotionally distraught or deeply depressed. But this year is your year. The LORD builds up His people; He gathers together the outcasts; He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:2). This is the year for restoration and wholeness.

This is the year to proclaim freedom for the captives.

“For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8). Strongholds are broken, chains are loosed, addictions have no power over those who look to the Lord Jesus Christ and are born again by the Spirit of God.

This is the year for recovery of sight to the blind.

“But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them …” But, “It is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ” (2 Corinthians 4:3-4, 6).

This is the year of liberty for those who are oppressed—the bruised and broken in body and spirit.

“God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him” (Acts 10:38). Sickness and disease come from the devil, not from God. God’s desire is to heal and restore—that is why Jesus came.
Today—even this year—this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing. It is the year of the favor of the LORD.

The Year of Breakthrough and Enlargement

“Sing, O barren,
You who have not borne!
Break forth into singing, and cry aloud,
You who have not labored with child!
For more are the children of the desolate
Than the children of the married woman,” says the LORD.

“Enlarge the place of your tent,
And let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings;
Do not spare;
Lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes.
For you shall expand to the right and to the left,
And your descendants will inherit the nations,
And make the desolate cities inhabited.”
(Isaiah 54:1-3)
Last year you may have felt barren, desolate, unproductive, useless, insignificant. But now is the time to get the revelation and understand that this year is the year of the favor of the LORD. It is the year of breaking forth, breaking through and breaking out. It is the time of your expansion, the enlargement of your territory, the increase of your resources and of your influence. It is the season of fruitfulness, fulfillment and the habitation of God’s glory in your life. Notice that it begins as a song of joy, even in the middle of adversity.

“Sing, O barren! Break forth into singing and cry aloud!”

It is the cry of elation, the creaking of joy, the breakthrough of loud, clamorous rejoicing. It is unmindful of present barrenness, but instead lays hold of God’s declaration with an active faith. Present circumstances do not dictate future conditions, for God has spoken His Word (God always gets the last word, and it is a good word!) and this is the year of the LORD’s favor.

“Enlarge the place of your tent.”

God has a breakthrough for you, and the way to get ready it is to enlarge your tent. Begin by enlarging your thinking with a repentance that lines your thoughts up with God’s. Start thinking His thoughts, revealed in His Word. “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Romans 12:2). “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him. But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit” (1 Corinthians 2:9-10). Jabez enlarged the tent of his heart and prayed to the LORD, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory” (1 Chronicles 4:10), and God answered his prayer.

“Let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings.”

As you enlarge your vision and start thinking God’s thoughts, you are going to be stretched. New wine must go into new wineskins because the fermenting action causes it to expand. Old wineskins cannot bear the strain, so let God burst your old wineskin and take you out of your comfort zone. Let Him give you a new wineskin, washed with the water of His Word and conditioned with a fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit. Then you will be ready to be stretched by the new wine of His powerful, prosperous love.

“Do not spare.”

In 2 Kings 4, the widow of one of the sons of the prophets came to the prophet Elisha in dire need. She was deep in debt and her sons were about to be sold into slavery. “What do you have in the house?” he asked. “Nothing,” she said, “except a jar of oil.” Then Elisha said, “Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors—empty vessels; do not gather just a few. And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones.” The woman went out and gathered as many empty vessels as she could find, came home, and kept pouring out her little jar of oil into them until they were all miraculously filled. When she filled the last jar, the original oil finally gave out. But the miraculous supply of oil was sold, the debts were all paid, and the sons were freed, for the woman did not spare in her preparation. “He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly,” Paul said. “And he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully” (2 Corinthians 9:7).

“Lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes.”

There are walls to demolish, rooms to enlarge. There are paradigms that must to be shifted. Give up your small ambitions; your life was meant to be so much larger than you have ever known. Start believing, start imagining, start speaking of the prosperity of God that is coming to overflow into your life. God is able to do “exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or imagine, according to the power that works in us” (Ephesians 3:20). Dream bigger, expect more, for His power is in all those who trust Him. The power of God for every breakthrough you and I will ever need is already at work in us.

“For you shall expand to the right and to the left.”

The Hebrew word for “expand” is pawrats. It is the word for breakthrough. It means to break out, burst forth, come broadly, spread out and increase. In the year of the LORD’s favor, you will breakthrough to a larger place. Former boundaries no longer apply, for God is bringing increase and abundance. “The LORD give you increase more and more, you and your children” (Psalm 115:14).

“Your descendants will inherit the nations, and make the desolate cities inhabited.”

This is not just about you and me—it is about our children as well. There is an inheritance at work. “Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD” (Psalm 127:3). “A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children” (Proverbs 13:22). God has a powerful inheritance in us that will affect all nations: “Ask of Me, and I will give the nations for your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for your possession” (Psalm 2:8). In this inheritance, the desolation for the nations will come to an end, for in the year of the LORD‘s favor, they shall become a habitation of His glory.

If you know the Lord Jesus Christ, this is your year to experience the favor of God, to walk in His freedom and wholeness, even to experience His anointing and power to minister that same freedom and wholeness to others. If you have not yet received the Lord Jesus Christ, this is the year of invitation. “Behold, now is the accepted time [the time of favor]; behold now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2).

Now is the time to enlarge your thinking, your imagination, and your heart to the promises of God, for He is breaking you out to enlarge your territory. He who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all you can ask or imagine will bring His power to bear in your life. In fact, if you know the Lord Jesus Christ, it is already at work in you. Therefore, regardless of the outward circumstances of your present situation, you’re your praise to the LORD. Don’t hold back. Break loose with loud shouts of joy, for God is bringing His breakthrough into your life.

Restoration Mentality

Today's Scripture
“And I will restore to you the years that the locust has eaten...” (Joel 2:25).

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

God is a god of restoration! You may have had some disappointments or unfair things happen in your life, but instead of dwelling on the past and living defeated, take a stand and focus on God's promise of restoration. Draw a line in the sand and say, "I am a child of the Most High God, and I'm not going to live my life negative and defeated. This is a new day, and I’m taking back what belongs to me!" That's having a restoration mentality. God wants to restore everything that's been stolen. He wants to restore your joy, restore your peace, restore your health, and restore your finances. But here's the key: you have to have a vision for it. You have to get your hopes up. You have to decide to get your thoughts and words going in the right direction. Focus on the future and release past hurts through forgiveness. Decide today to get up every morning hoping, expecting, and believing. Know that God is going to pay you back. Thank Him for restoring everything that the enemy has stolen from you!

A Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, thank You for choosing to restore my life. Thank You for the truth of Your Word that sets me free. Fill me with Your power today so that I may stand strong and move forward on the path You have for me today. I love You and bless Your Name. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Missing Elderly Woman Found Alive in Oregon Mountains

Friday , September 07, 2007
BAKER CITY, Ore. —
A 76-year-old woman missing for almost two weeks in the Wallowa Mountains of Eastern Oregon has been found alive, the Baker County Sheriff's Office said Thursday.

Ora Doris Anderson of Sandy had a hip injury and was dehydrated when she was found just after 2 p.m. But she was conscious and alert, the sheriff's office said in a news release. A helicopter team went to extricate her from the rugged terrain, and she was airlifted to a Baker City hospital.
George Winn, the CEO of St. Elizabeth Health Services, said late Thursday that Anderson was in critical, but stable condition and was being admitted to the intensive care unit.
Anderson, who goes by Doris, was found by a Baker County deputy and an Oregon State Police trooper in an area that had already been searched.
A message left with Anderson's husband, Harold Anderson, was not returned. Iris Anderson, 71, who is married to Harold's brother, Melvin, credited the miraculous survival to prayer and Anderson's healthy lifestyle.
"How she managed to live for two weeks at the bottom of canyon, I don't know," Anderson said. "It took a lot more stamina than I have, I believe."
Doris Anderson had last been seen Aug. 24 in the Eagle Creek area, where she had gone bow hunting with her 74-year-old husband. Iris Anderson said Doris isn't much for hunting, but didn't want her husband going alone after his hunting partner had to cancel.
The Andersons drove into the rugged mountains and canyons in a Chevy Tahoe pulling a utility trailer. The vehicle got stuck, and Harold Anderson broke his wrist while unloading an all-terrain vehicle from the trailer.
The couple tried to walk to a main U.S. Forest Service road for help but became exhausted. Harold Anderson said his wife headed back for the vehicle. A hunting party later found a disoriented Harold Anderson, but there was no sign of his wife.
About 70 volunteers a day combed the mountains for several days looking for Doris Anderson until the search was scaled back in late August.
Overnight temperatures have dipped into the 30s over the last two weeks, and she was lightly dressed. Authorities had largely given up hope.
"I don't think there is very much chance of her being alive, not in that area," Sheriff Mitch Southwick said last week.
Iris Anderson said Harold and the couple's two daughters were also starting to lose hope, especially when the search got scaled back.
"I think he kind of reconciled that she was gone and in heaven with her son who died years ago," she said.
But Iris Anderson said she had a strong sense that Doris was alive, but hidden in the brush. She lit candles and asked to God to help.
"My prayers are always answered, always," she said.

If you desire to pray for the power to
receive healing or if you just want to
release your faith for health and wholeness
You can receive right now
Jesus is where you are right this moment

Jesus is the healer;
Your part is to say and do.
So you say these things out loud.

You say;
Jesus is my healer
He bore my sicknesses and my diseases and pain
I expect to receive now.
Pray this prayer in faith and mean it with your whole heart
Accept it and believe it!

Father, the word of God, that I have heard and confess
is the power of God unto my salvation
I confess that Jesus Christ is Lord
over my life, spirit, soul and body
I receive the power of God to make me whole,
sound, deliver, saved and healed now
I act on the word of God and receive His power

Sickness, disease and pain
I resist you in the name of Jesus
You are not the will of God
I enforce the word of God on you
I will not tolerate you in my life
Leave my presence,
I will never allow you back
I have been healed and made sound
Jesus made me whole
My days of sickness and disease are over

I am the saved, I am the healed and the power of
sickness has been forever broken over my life
Jesus bore my sickness
Jesus bore my weakness
Jesus bore my pain and I am free
No sickness, no sin, no fear, no evil addiction
shall lord it over me any longer
I have been redeemed from the curse
and I receive the blessing
I proclaim my freedom in Jesus name

The gospel is the power of God to me, unto my salvation
I receive the gospel, I act on the gospel and I am
made whole in the name of the lord Jesus Christ.
Amen!

This is a true story reported by an Overseas Missionary Fellowship missionary at his home church in Michigan.

While serving at a small field hospital in Africa, I traveled every two weeks through the jungle to a nearby city for supplies. This required camping overnight halfway. On one of these trips, I saw two men fighting in the city. One was seriously hurt, so I treated him and witnessed to him about the Lord Jesus Christ. I then returned home without incident.
Upon arriving in the city several weeks later, I was approached by the man I had treated earlier. He told me he had known that I carried money and medicine. He said, “Some friends and I followed you into the jungle knowing you would camp overnight. We waited for you to go to sleep and planned to kill you and take your money and drugs. Just as we were about to move into your campsite, we saw that you were surrounded by 26 armed guards.”
I laughed at this and said, “I was certainly all alone out in the jungle campsite.” The young man pressed the point, “No sir, I was not the only one to see the guards. My five friends also saw them, and we all counted them. It was because of those guards that we were afraid and left you alone.”
At this point of the church presentation in Michigan, one of the men in the church stood up and interrupted the missionary. He asked, “Can you tell me the exact date when this happened?” The missionary thought for a while and recalled the date.
The man in the congregation then gave his side of the story. He stated, “On that night in Africa, it was day here. I was preparing go play golf. As I put my bags in the car, I felt the Lord leading me to pray for you. In fact, the urging was so great that I called men of this church together to pray for you. Will all of those men who met to pray please stand?”

The men who had met that day to pray together stood - there were 26 of them.

Woman Defies Prognosis—Makes Astounding Recovery from Deep Coma

...just when all signs pointed to Jill breathing her last breath, she started to mumble.

Teresa Neumann (September 14, 2007)

(Oklahoma)—In yet another example of someone in a coma "coming back to life," the story of Jill Finley is truly amazing in several ways. According to an MSNBC report, the 31-year old woman had suffered from a congenital condition that caused her heart to stop beating. Her desperate husband, Ryan, had performed CPR on her to save her life and then sat with her in the hospital reading the Bible to her. But the ensuing coma had left Jill in such a seemingly hopeless condition that ultimately, Ryan—believing his wife wouldn't want to live in the condition she was—made the agonizing decision to remove her from life support.

The doctors prepped Ryan for saying his final good-byes to Jill, and just when all signs pointed to Jill breathing her last breath, she started to mumble. After a few moments, Ryan reportedly realized that his wife was saying, "Get me out of here." Not only that, she was asking him to take her to her favorite restaurant. (Photo: MSNBC)
After going through physical therapy, Jill Finley is nearly back to normal. Appearing on the TODAY show with co-host Meredith Vieria this week, Jill was quoted as saying she cherishes every day with her husband, who was nominated for an Oklahoma Heart Hero award for his CPR work.

This is just wonderful...and I have just turned again...away from complaining to thanksgiving...by His grace and mercy.

He is gloriously triumphant in all things.

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Father, I bless and praise you because there's healing in the wings of the Sun of Righteousness. I praise you that there are blessings in His wings, and one of them is healing. Thank you for setting me free so I can leap with joy like a calf let out to pasture! Father, no worldly joy compares with the joy I have because of the healing in those wings. Glory! After being examined medically, one of the women in the group came over to the boy and anointed him with oil, and prayed for him...

ggnclinic.gif
(Thailand)—During a recent mission trip to Thailand, a group from Global Gateway Network (GGN), experienced a wonderful healing by the hand of the Lord, as they prayed for a boy coming through their health clinic. (Photo: GGN)
Pat Davis, Vice President of GGN, was a witness to this miracle, and the joyful reaction of the many who had come for medical treatment.

GGN is described on their website, as an inter-denominational Christian organization that exists to make life better for those who are suffering around the world.

One of the unique ways Global Gateway Network effectively fulfills its purpose is by expanding and enhancing people's God-given dreams through challenging adventures in a cross-cultural setting. As we encourage a pioneering spirit and network with other organizations of similar vision our mutual goals are achieved. At the heart of everything we do is our continued passion to help the hurting.

Our mandate is forged by building orphanages, medical facilities, providing clean drinking water, shelter, offering education and meeting basic needs of disadvantaged people around the world.
ggnkids.gif
One of the orphanages GGN has built is the House of Hope, located on the border of Thailand and Burma (Myanmar). There are about 26 Karen Children being cared for there. The condition in Burma for Karen people, including children, is genocidal. (Photo: GGN)

"Many of the kids are just living in the jungle," says Davis. "Most of them are Burmese (Myanmar) refugees (Karen people), and they come across the border. We've leased a couple of buildings in Baan Mai, and are taking care of these kids."

In May of this year, GGN organized a medical mission trip to Thailand, with a group of 14 people (4 doctors, 2 nurse practitioners, 4 nurses, and the rest lay people). The group was able to bring $750,000 worth of medical supplies for the River Kwai Hospital [and clinics].

Pat Davis talked about the trip, and the remarkable experience of extending the love of Jesus—practically through medicine, and spiritually through prayer—for the many needy people he met, as well as an amazing miracle of healing.

"After we took care of the kids in the orphanage, we brought medical supplies to a place called Three Pagodas Pass, on the border of Burma and Thailand, and to the River Kwai Hospital, and served there.

"Later, we were set up in the Buddhist temple, in Baan Mai, and we saw people all day. The last day, I was doing triage, and [since we'd been seeing people all day] I was very tired. So I began training a couple of others who'd come on the trip, to do triage. It was after 5:30 at night and they were still processing people. I was sitting on a bench, watching what was going on, as they asked the patients questions [with a translator]. Eventually, 8 Buddhist monks came and sat next to me on a bench.

"A family arrived and was checked out, but when they got to their young son (he looked to be about 14), he seemed like something was wrong. After being examined medically, one of the women in the group came over to the boy and anointed him with oil, and prayed for him. The boy just stood there, and then all of a sudden he said something, and began to laugh.

"The crowd just erupted! Everyone was talking excitedly to each other, (not in English) and even the eight Buddhist monks got up and got in line. Everyone was jovial and happy, and would come to the boy and talk with him—this went on till 8 o'clock at night.

"Later I said to [my friend] George, 'That was really something the way those people were so happy.' He told me, 'Pat, you don't understand. That boy you thought was 14-years-old was actually 20. He's been a deaf-mute since birth!' I didn't have a clue what had happened [until George told me]."

A Hero in the War against Terrorism is a "Stay-at-Home" Mom

(South Carolina)—Laura Mansfield (not her real name, since her job has generated numerous death threats), is a South Carolina mother who is fluent in Arabic. According to an AP report, from her laptop at home she hacks into jihadists' computers and alerts authorities when she finds anything suspicious.</I>
It was she who recently discovered the Osama bin Laden video before al-Qaida announced it.
She is quoted as saying: "I realized, oh my gosh, I'm sitting here, I'm a fat 50-year-old mom and I've managed to scoop al-Qaida."

by Aimee Herd : Oct 6, 2007 : AP Staff-AP, FOXNews

"In the jungle near the house, there are jaguars, hawks, snakes. But his guardian angel and God protected my son."

(Rio De Janeiro, Brazil)—Little Neilson Oliveira Lima, only three-years-old, had wandered into the dense Amazon rain forest and jungle near his home, attempting to follow after his father on September 16th.

But Neilson became lost, and was not found again until 11 days later, on September 27th, by his cousin. The toddler was discovered three miles away from his home, and according to an Amazonas State officer, "Nobody knows what he ate or how he survived." (Photo: mongabay.com)
The boy's mother offered an explanation, telling reporters, "In the jungle near the house, there are jaguars, hawks, snakes. But his guardian angel and God protected my son."
