Matt Sorger: "IT'S A NEW SEASON OF MIRACLES AND GREATER GLORY"--and God is Calling Everyone to Access and Step Into It!

God is up to something! Below is a word I previously shared before the beginning of the New Year with some recent miracles and testimonies that have been happening. Over the last few months, we have been witnessing a dramatic increase of God's healing, miracle power. We are stepping into a new season where signs, wonders and miracles are becoming easy. There is a shift happening in the spirit and God is calling everyone to access and step into it. Now is the time to pray for the sick like never before. There is a great healing grace being poured out.

As we have been traveling across America over the last several months, the glory of God has been poured out in such a tangible, overwhelming way. There is a heavy weight of glory sweeping over those who are hungry for more of God! Hunger and thirst are the keys to receiving this GREAT GRACE God is releasing. We must get our eyes off of ourselves and onto Him.

I have found myself saying, "IT'S JUST THAT EASY!" As the weight of His glory has filled entire rooms, His healing grace and presence have been sweeping over the people--healing them right in their seats! We worship until His glory comes and then He does the rest. There is a new realm of corporate healing glory being released. We call out a sickness by the Holy Spirit and it gets healed. It's just that easy. It's not hard in the glory!

New Mantles are Falling

All throughout Church history, men and women have partnered with God to see great movements of His Spirit released in the earth. God is still looking for such individuals today. You can be one of them!

Right now, there are mantles hovering over the Body of Christ, waiting to be released, and God is looking for those He can place them on. Some mantles will resemble things we have seen before, while others will empower people to do things that have never been done before.

The Lord recently spoke to me in a dream where He showed me one of the mantles about to be released over the corporate Body of Christ. In my dream, I was in a house full of people. I heard a knock at the door and went to open it. When I opened the door, a very elderly woman was standing there. She looked like she was just about to pass over into eternity. She could barely stand. I instantly recognized her. She was a very old Kathryn Kuhlman. I reached down and put my arms under her, picked her up and carried her into the house. As I stepped over the threshold into the house, I awoke from my sleep. For weeks I prayed over this dream asking God for understanding. As I waited on the Lord, He began to unfold its meaning to me.

Mass Miracles and Deliverance

The Lord used the picture of Kathryn Kuhlman to symbolically speak to me that there is once again about to be released over the Church a mantle that is similar to the one this great woman of God wore. It is a Mantle of Glory and Creative Miracles. Not only will it release mass miracles, but it is deeply connected to our level of intimacy with the Person of the Holy Spirit. It is a mantle of extraordinary power as well as deep intimacy with God. This mantle releases creative miracles as the atmosphere of Heaven is released in and over our lives.
This type of mantle will not just cover one or two. God wants to release it over the Corporate Body. God is looking for vessels He can endue with power out in the marketplace. We will see "backyard miracles" en masse, miracles in the home, workplace, out on the streets, in hospitals and in the malls. We will see creative miracles everywhere God's people go. But this mantle requires a lifestyle of deep communion with God and a life of complete surrender, obedience and death to self.

The second mantle I want to share with you is the Mantle of Mass Deliverance. Not only will we see mass miracles, but there is also a wave of mass deliverance coming. People that have struggled in areas of their lives for years will receive breakthrough as the fire of deliverance is released into their lives. I encourage you to pray this prayer, "Lord, uncover and expose every area of darkness in my heart." As you do, God will release by His Spirit a deep deliverance in your life. Just as the Lord delivered Israel out of the hands of the Egyptians en masse, so God will deliver His people en masse (Exodus 3:20-22).

Supernatural Favor

The third is a Mantle of Supernatural Favor. God is placing mantles of favor upon His children in this hour. It's the type of favor that God placed on Isaac as he was taking possession of the land of his inheritance in Genesis 26. As he contended for what God said was his, Isaac eventually came into a place of total fulfillment and rest. This favor will cause God's people to enter into the fullness of their inheritance.

Media Revival

The fourth is a Media Mantle. We will see a "media revival" with a move of God spreading through the airwaves and internet. The Lord spoke to me that He is raising up TV networks that will help facilitate this end time move of God. Jesus will even be glorified over the secular networks! God is placing Media Mantles on people who will glorify His name through various media outlets.

Be Ready

As we move into this next season, I encourage you to stay sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit as He leads you into times of prayer and waiting on Him. This will prepare you to be fully ready for all that He wants to release in and through your life. Get ready to pick up your mantle!

In the Right Place at the Right Time

When the mantle fell from Elijah, Elisha had to bend down and pick up that mantle. When he did, the Spirit of the Lord came upon him. Elisha had to be in the right place at the right time. It required persistence, determination and faithfulness on his part, so he would be correctly positioned to receive the mantle when the time came for it to be released. The same is true for us. It does matter where you are and who you are hanging out with! Some visitations from the Lord require you being in a specific place at a specific time. It is crucial we are where God wants us to be.

I know each time I have received a mantle from the Lord, it has been in a specific place and time. For example, the Lord led me to be in Moriah Chapel in Wales during the 100-year anniversary of the Welsh Revival. This was the location where the Revival of 1904 broke out--impacting millions of souls around the world. It was during this special time of prayer that I had a deep encounter with the "Revival Mantle." This was the mantle Evan Roberts, the 27-year-old revivalist, wore transforming the entire culture and society of Wales.
During my prayer time, I could physically feel a blanket-like garment being draped over my legs and around my waist. God gave me a very deep revelation on the true meaning of revival. I came to understand from John 13:4-5 that true mantles of power must be worn with humility and servanthood. This was the mantle Jesus wore when He girded Himself with a towel and washed His disciples' feet. It was significant that the mantle was draped over my waist and legs. True revival is marked with deep humility.

Another time, I was in Europe ministering with an evangelist friend in Estonia, who was doing some large evangelistic crusades, when the Mass Crusade Mantle came upon me. I was standing on the platform when it happened. The anointing for miracles and mass salvation came into the meeting. As I was standing on the right side of the platform, it felt like someone placed a blanket over my head, shoulders and arms. There was a new mantle for mass crusades being placed on my life. This mantle was released in the midst of the glorious atmosphere of a mass crusade meeting. I was in the right place at the right time. Just three months later, I held my first mass crusade in India. Multitudes were saved, healed of sickness and delivered from demonic oppression!

Here are just a few of the healing and miracle testimonies that have been shared over the last few months as God's healing glory is invading the earth!

Deaf Ears are Opening:

I was at a church near my home and a young man, Matt Sorger, was preaching. While he was preaching, I was healed! I've had problems with my hearing and I've been healed. Praise God.

Limp Leg and Feet Healed:

I had a polyp on my knee for seven years and I was unable to straighten my leg. I had orthoscopic surgery on my knee, and the surgeon said it was successful, but I walked with a limp and still couldn't straighten it. I was healed during the meeting and now can straighten my leg and walk!

Young Girl Goes to Heavenly Surgery Room; Receives Healing From Crippling Diseases

A desperate missionary family, unfamiliar with healing revivals, takes their daughter to Lakeland where she has an encounter with Jesus.

(Lakeland, Florida)—Pastor Stephen Strader of Ignited Church in Lakeland, Florida, where a massive revival has broken out, contacted Breaking Christian News about an amazing healing that took place there on Saturday, April 26, in which 14-year-old Kelsey Hays was healed from multiple immune diseases.

I telephoned Kelsey's mother, Lesley, of Kansas City, Missouri, on Tuesday, April 29, to ask her details of what happened. She and Kelsey were still in Lakeland, preparing to fly back to Kansas City where they attend the International House of Prayer (IHOP).
Some background on Kelsey and her family:
At the age of 9, Kelsey was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease, an immune related thyroid condition. Later she acquired Hepatitis C, which her mother says she "fought off," but in the process it left her body weakened and subject to other immunological diseases.
Mr. and Mrs. Hayes and their family have been missionaries in Mexico—and most recently Ecuador—for at least ten years. In September of last year, they had arrived back in the states for a furlough. Shortly thereafter, in October, Kelsey fell victim to a variety of increasingly serious illnesses. She had her gall bladder removed and during the surgery doctors noticed that her liver was scarred and infected. Later, doctors believed inflammation from the infection had entered the lining of her stomach and was attacking her central nervous system. By April, Kelsey's parents and her baffled doctors were at their wit's ends. She was in continual, intense, and severely crippling pain, taking up to 30 pills a day to try and manage it.

Then one day someone at the Hays' church approached them with news of the revival in Lakeland and offered to pay the family's way there. Though they had never experienced meetings such as the ones they were about to attend, the Hays were desperate. Also, Lesley said Kelsey had shared with them a significant vision she had in March of this year, the Saturday before Easter Sunday. In the vision, Kelsey said she found herself connected to an IV, standing before the Throne of God. Jesus came down and cut the IV tube and then God the Father came down, removed the IV from her hand, took off her hospital gown and said, "It's done!" (The day after the vision, noted Lesley, was the worst day of pain Kelsey had ever had.)

Saturday, April 26, Lakeland, Florida:

By the time Kelsey and her parents arrived at the venue in Lakeland it was 6:00 in the evening. The lines of people stretching for blocks outside of the church told them that it was filled to capacity and they would not be able to get in. Standing in the crowd, the Hays heard story after story of healings and miracles happening around the world even to those not present in the meetings. Somehow, Lesley and Kelsey were finally able to get in (she thought because they had helped another suffering couple to get in), but Mr. Hays remained outside.

Kelsey was in so much pain and so fatigued she couldn't walk. Her mother literally dragged, and half carried, her up to the only space available in the balcony where they began to cry and worship the Lord. It's all they could do, she said. Standing next to them were a man and woman; complete strangers. The woman turned to Kelsey and said, "I believe God wants to give you new organs." (Kelsey's gall bladder had been removed.) The man looked at Lesley and said, "I just saw you in a dream recently. I saw myself carrying your daughter down to the stage to get prayer."

Even though at the time Todd was taking testimonies from people who had been healed, the man offered to help take Kelsey down to get prayer. Lesley, unfamiliar with the type of meeting she was in, was afraid of breaking protocol and hesitated. Moments later, Todd stopped the testimonies and said, "I see someone with an IV pain drip in their left arm. Who is that?" Remembering Kelsey's vision of standing before the throne with her IV, her mother took up the man's offer. He carried Kelsey down to the stage. Todd prayed a simple prayer, touched Kelsey's forehead and she fell out under the power of the Spirit for about 45 minutes, said Lesley.

What was happening to Kelsey during this time?

According to her mother, Kelsey said while she was "out" she was taken to Heaven. She found herself in a celestial surgical room where Jesus stood next to her looking right down at her, directly face-to-face. He said to her, "Keep your eyes on me, Kelsey. It'll be ok."

She saw angels all around her; she felt them kneading her stomach, doing deep massage on her entire body, especially her legs and arms which had been so weak. At one point while Kelsey was lying on the floor under the Spirit, her mother said Todd announced publicly: "Look! There's angels over her."

When Kelsey finally came to and stood up, Todd asked her how she felt. "I feel nothing," said Kelsey. "I feel NO PAIN!"

At this writing, it has been four days since Kelsey has experienced God's extraordinary touch of healing and she is still without pain. She's feeling just like a 14-year old girl should feel.

A Healing Jesus

In Jesus' day, leprosy was about as bad a disease as a person could get. Lepers were shunned and sent away to die outside the city gates. It is easy to see how a leper might expect Jesus to pass him by and reject him as everyone else had done.​

But one leper dared to hope for something better, and as Jesus passed by, he cried out, "Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean" (Luke 5:12 NKJV). Jesus' response forever settled the issue of His desire to heal mankind: He put out His hand and touched the man, saying, I am willing; be cleansed (v. 13). He was saying "I want to! It's my desire that you be healed of this leprosy." And immediately, the leprosy left the man's body!

Jesus is willing to heal all who come to Him. He's no respecter of persons. If He would heal the leper outside the city gates, He is willing to heal you. He wants to heal you from the crown of your head to the soles of your feet! If you need healing, I set my faith in agreement with your faith today and pray this prayer for you:

Lord, I thank You that You are willing to heal all manner of sickness and disease. As You healed the leper, so You are also willing to heal my friend who needs Your healing touch. Now, friend, in the authority of Jesus' mighty name, whatever sickness or disease, fear, or doubt you are facing, I bind it and curse it at the root. I command it to leave you now. Be healed from the crown of your head to the soles of your feet, in Jesus' name. Amen.

My Declaration of Faith for TodayAccording to God's Word and in the authority of Jesus' Name, I receive the healing I need today.​

This needs to make headline news...not some of the other junk that makes the news these days!!!
It's a tough, but heartwarming story...with a picture of John Gebhardt in Iraq
This little girl's entire family was executed. The insurgents intended to execute the little girl also, and shot her in the head...but they failed to kill her. She was cared for in John's hospital and is healing up, but continues to cry and moan. The nurses said John is the only one who seems to calm her down, so John has spent the last four nights holding her while they both slept in that chair. The girl is coming along with her healing.
This, my friends, is worth sharing with the WORLD! Go for it!!
You'll never see things like this in the news. Please keep this going. Nothing will happen if you don't, but the public needs to see pictures like this and needs to realize that we're making a difference. Even if it is just one little girl at a time.
Remember to pray for all of our soldiers and their's as well.

Jesus made an amazing statement when he said that all things are possible to him who believes. How is it possible for the impossible to become possible? Establish your belief system according to the word of God, and bring your thoughts into agreement with your God-given hopes and dreams. Take control of your thoughts for they will give birth to your words, words will become actions, actions will become habits, and habits will become character and your character becomes your destiny. Your faith-filled words will give substance to your hopes and your destiny will be fulfilled.

PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, I am not limited in doing what You have called me to do. Jesus, my Lord, said that everything is possible for him who believes. Lord, I believe; help my unbelief. The circumstances, finances, connections, the skilled people and the anointing needed to fulfill your will have already been provided. You have made every provision I will ever need. I affirm that no word from my Father is without power or impossible of fulfillment! I will stand and look to You for all my needs. Amen

"The multitude rose up together against them. The magistrates tore
their clothes off and commanded them to be beaten with rods. When they
had laid many stripes on them, they threw them into prison, commanding
the jailer to keep them securely. Having received such a charge, he
put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks.
But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God
and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great
earthquake so that the foundations of the prison were shaken, and
immediately all the doors were open and everyone's chains were loosed.
And the keeper of the prison awakened from sleep, seeing the prison
doors open and supposing the prisoners fled, drew his sword and was
about to kill himself. And Paul called with a loud voice, "Do yourself
no harm. We are all here." - Acts 16:22

In 1986 Beni and I went with some people from our church to
Israel and Italy. And one of the places we visited was a hole in the
ground, in which was a dungeon. It's the actual prison where the
apostle Paul spent time. Scratch your picture of prison and think hole
in the ground. It's wet, musty, cold and damp. Men were literally
dumped down there. The apostle Paul wrote the book of Philippians, a
book marked with a theme that is the most unusual ever to be written
by someone in prison: joy. In Chapter 4:4, you see these
words: "Rejoice always. Again, I say, rejoice!"

In the Acts 16 passage, Paul's joy was to receive the most
unusual test. Now if I'm in prison, there's an earthquake, the chains
fall off my arms and legs and the door flings open, I'm
saying, "Jehovah Jireh-God has provided for me again." I'm out of
there as fast as you can imagine because it's obvious it's the will of
God. "Praise God! My worship worked again. It shook that thing."

But not Paul, the apostle. He's worshipping God, the earthquake
comes that is so powerful it knocks chains off of wrists and feet and
knocks them to the ground. The doors fling open and Paul senses, "I
wasn't a prisoner when I was put in here. And those doors opening
don't make me more free. I smell harvest. I smell some fish that are
about to be caught. And since my primary goal in life is to catch
fish, I'm going to stay in the most unusual fishing hole I've ever
been in. Uh, sir, about to kill yourself? You'll notice that we're all
here." That was enough of a witness. The guard had to know the same
Jesus. He surrendered immediately to Christ, and his entire family got
saved. There is something enduring and fruitful about supernatural
joy.

There are a number of examples of joy throughout Scripture, but
to me, this is one of the most unique and remarkable illustrations.

Several years ago, I felt impressed to work on three verses of
the Bible, to see if I could take six months and learn how to do them:
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, "Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In
everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus
for you." I purposed to meditate and practice those three commands
because they are all inclusive.

I would quote them and think about them as I was going about my
day. "Rejoice always." I purpose to choose joy and express it in every
situation. Some situations are easier than others. And then "pray
without ceasing"; I have to stay in communion with the Lord
constantly. And then "In everything give thanks." That's really
demanding because that means everything. There's no room for error
here. Do these three things all the time. Be always thankful and
always joyful, and pray always about everything.

People come to me and say, "I just need to know God's will for
my life." I tell them, "Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In
everything give thanks. For this is the will of God in Christ Jesus
concerning you." "Yeah, but I need to know whether to take this job or
whether I should live in Portland or I should live in San Jose." It
makes very little difference if you rejoice always, pray without
ceasing and in everything give thanks. "Yeah, but I don't know what to
do for my occupation." Pump gas or be a doctor; it doesn't matter, but
rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks. This
is the will of God. All that other stuff is trivial by comparison.
It's a win-win. Just rejoice always, pray without ceasing, and in
everything give thanks.

Faith To Endure And Receive The Promise

“Now there is in Jerusalem by the sheep gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew Bethesda having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralysed, waiting for a moving of the water. For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had. Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he had already been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “do you want to be made well”. The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk”. And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed and walked."

I have often used the above passage of scripture to encourage the saints of God in not waiting for or chasing after the moves of God as “the be all and end all” of Christian experience. Even though the stirring of the pool is powerful and brings about change, the stirring doesn’t last. You can also wait a long time for a stirring and still miss out on its transforming power. It’s better to heed the Word of God, obey and continue on the journey of faith rather than relying on the stirrings to see you through.
During my current reading of the book of John, I was struck by another side to this story - enduring faith! What incredible faith this man had, to endure so long and yet not give up hope for his miracle. We know he suffered from the infirmity for 38 years yet I wonder how long he had been at Bethesda? How many times had he fought through the agony that racked his body to make his way from the porch to the pool when the Angel stirred? How many disappointments had he suffered as he made his way from the pool back to the porch? How many tears of frustration had he shed? Had the competition among the multitude or the nature of his infirmity isolated him in the midst of all those who gathered in the porches looking towards the pool? I’m not sure of the answers to these questions but I do know that Jesus saw him and knew that he had “been in that condition a long time”.

What did Jesus see that separated this man from the multitude? The scripture doesn’t list any others healed from among them. Why this man? I believe Jesus saw his enduring faith! He hadn’t given up, even though the odds where stacked against him, someone else was always getting to the pool before him. Yet he endured believing that one day it would be his turn. He had a “never give up” faith, a “not quitting tenacity”.

I have in the past interpreted the man’s answer to Jesus after being asked “do you want to be made well?” as a complaining and whining response. Yet I have seen it differently as I meditate upon this man of enduring faith. Maybe he hadn’t got to finish his sentence – Maybe he started out by saying what was happening yet he hadn’t quit he was still dragging himself to the pool anyway, expectant of his miracle. He wouldn’t have stayed so long if he didn’t want to be healed, He wouldn’t have put himself through it all if he didn’t want to be made well. Hallelujah for enduring faith! And the result, his miracle came - Hallelujah! “Rise up, take up your bed and walk”. It didn’t happen as he expected. His miracle came another way. He endured in faith until he received his miracle.
I’m not sure what you and your family are facing as you read this newsletter, but let me encourage you by saying – Don’t Quit! Keep believing, keep enduring by faith, don’t let go of the promises! No matter what obstacles have been placed in your path, no matter who seems to be causing you to stumble, no matter how frustrated and out of control you may feel – Jesus is always able to spot enduring faith out of the multitude and speak a word of deliverance to you. Let your hope be anchored in enduring faith in Christ, not on a whim that wilts under the pressure of disappointment.

We live in an age where nothing lasts and everything has to be quick and easy. If it seems too hard – don’t let go! He is faithful and the promises of God are “Yes and Amen” (2 Cor 1:20). You too can receive your miracle as you remain faithful and anchored to the Rock that is Christ. In the words of the hymn writer “My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness”. Don’t succumb to the easy path; don’t discard it if it doesn’t seem to work. Don’t allow the disappointment of the pool to sink you. Just hold onto Jesus and allow Him to be your strength and shield!

You can endure and receive your miracle! I pray that you will have the faith as the man at the pool of Bethesda and endure till your promise comes – Glory to God in the highest!

Complete in Christ

Often a man and woman will marry for the wrong reasons. Each is looking to the other to heal all their hurts from the past and fulfill all their unmet needs. The demands they place on each other are too overwhelming for human nature. One of the greatest myths religion has taught is that a man or woman is not complete until they marry. Each individual must work out and fully complete his own salvation. This is found in none other than in Christ Jesus. You are complete in him; you are accepted in the beloved. In Christ you come to completeness of personality. God�s divine power has given you everything you need for life and godliness through your knowledge of him who called you by his own glory and goodness. (2 Peter 1:3-4). The names of God reveal his desire to supply your every need.

PRAYER:
My life is complete in You, Lord Jesus. Every answer, every need, every solution I have need of is available to me. You are Jehovah-Rapha, my Healer, Jehovah-Nissi, my Victory, Jehovah-Jireh, my Provider. You are Jehovah M�Kaddesh, my Sanctifier, Jehovah-Shalom, my Peace and Security. My Shepherd, you�re Jehovah-Rohi, Jehovah-Tsidkenu, my Righteousness, and Jehovah-Shammah, my ever-present Friend. Because I am complete in You, Lord Jesus I can overcome my insecurities and bring maturity and wisdom to every relationship for the good and benefit of others. Amen

Miracle Mom of Miracle Baby Wants Everyone to Know that Miracles Happen

Says attending physician: "God works miracles every day, and I was blessed to be part of this one."

(Greenfield, Tennessee)—Melanie High's family celebrated Mother's Day with her on Sunday with a triple dose of thankfulness due to the fact that she miraculously survived the March 11 delivery of her second child after suffering a rare obstetric emergency called an amniotic fluid embolism. According to a Jackson Sun report, Melanie's heart stopped beating, not once, but several times, while she was in labor with newborn daughter Avery, whose own heart wasn't beating when she was born either. Melanie's husband, Donald Ray High, was in the delivery room when Dr. Donald Wilson turned the unresponsive mother on her side. "They talked to her, said Donald Ray. "They were already doing chest compressions. The last thing Dr. Wilson said was, 'I'm going to take care of her, Donald Ray.'"
Melanie was in surgery for three hours and then taken to intensive care. At one point, said Donald Ray, "They couldn't stop her from bleeding. About 9 p.m., they came out and said they didn't think either Melanie or the baby would survive." The family gathered and the prayers started. Nurses prayed, chaplains prayed, co-workers prayed, and their church's prayer-chain was alerted.

Speaking of the many miracles that happened that night, Melanie noted: "All of the specialists that were needed that night at the hospital were there." That was a rare, significant fact, the nurses told her, because even when in-house meetings are called not all of the specialists are able to attend. Said one nurse, "But if God calls a meeting, they're there."

As God delivered Melanie and her daughter from the brink of death, they became known as the Miracle Mom and the Miracle Baby. Dr. Wilson told Melanie's husband, "God has been good to you, Donald Ray. You should be planning your wife's visitation." The doctor was also quoted as saying, "God works miracles every day, and I was blessed to be part of this one."

Reporter Jacque Hillman wrote: "Melanie and Donald Ray see a purpose in their story. 'It's a way for us to tell a story about what happened to give praise to those who were a part of this and to let people know that miracles still occur today,' said Melanie. 'And to thank all the people who take time to donate blood and platelets. Medically, neither one of us should be here.'"

Man Who Miraculously Survived Grizzly Attack Recalls Asking God to Spare His Life

"He's eating my brains. I can feel it. I said, 'God! I hope it gets over soon. I'm too young to die. I don't want to die,' and then [the bear] stopped."

(British Columbia, Canada)—Earlier this month 53-year-old surveyor Brent Case from Vancouver Island, Canada, was doing his job in a remote area north of the city of Vancouver when he was attacked by a 900-pound grizzly bear. He survived, while praying, by rolling up into a fetal position and playing dead. Horribly mauled, Case lived to tell his story.

Though nowhere is it reported if Case is a man of faith or not, his testimony of calling out to God during the attack and noting that God "was on his side that day," says volumes about the assertion that when faced with life-threatening circumstances even those who may not believe in God call out to Him for help.

Interviewed by Today host Meredith Vieira and Matt Lauer recently, Case described the horrific attack in detail. "When I feel there's something watching me, my hair just goes up on edge. On that day, it went up on my left side. I looked over at my left and here's the grizzly coming at me aggressively, and I said, 'Oh, my God.'"

According to the MSNBC report, the beast grabbed one of Case's arms and tore into it and then took his head in its mouth and shook him, "tearing gaping wounds that left his scalp hanging in bloody flaps."
According to a CBC report, Case remembers thinking, "He's eating my gristle and he's gnawing on my head...He's eating my brains. I can feel it.' I know it's happening and I said, 'God! I hope it gets over soon. I'm too young to die. I don't want to die,' and then he stopped."
Inexplicably, the bear suddenly stopped the attack, long enough for Case to miraculously make it back to his truck and drive 25 kilometers to a gas station to get help. "I think my brains are hanging out," he remembers telling the attendant. "I don't know what's happening here, but I'm alive. I started wiggling my fingers and toes."
"For whatever reason," concluded Case, "God was on my side that day."

This following story was told to me (Sr. Patricia) by Fr. Langford, the cofounder of the Missionary of Charity priests in a radio interview I was doing with him for my program, “Faith, Hope and Action.” I was so moved by his story that I asked him for permission to include it in this book and he graciously agreed. This story is the transcription from that interview:

One day in the mother house in Calcutta there were about three hundred novices and they were all out for the morning. One of the novices working in the kitchen came up to Mother Teresa and said, “We’ve planned poorly; we have no flour to back these chipaties for lunch.” Chipaties are little flour and water pancakes. The situation looked bleak—three hundred plus mouths are coming to be fed in about an hour and a half and there’s nothing to cook with. There’s no food.

“What I would expect Mother Teresa to do,” Fr. Langford explained to me, “was that Mother would pick up the telephone and call some of her benefactors and mobilize them to find some way to feed her daughters. Instead, her reaction—her spontaneous reaction—was to say to this little one, ‘Sister, you’re in charge of the kitchen this week? Well then, go into the chapel and tell Jesus we have no food. That’s settled. Now let’s move on. What’s next?’”

Lo and behold, ten minutes later there was a ring at the door and Mother Teresa was called downstairs. A man she had never seen before was standing there with a clipboard. He addressed her saying “Mother Teresa, we were just informed that the teachers at the city schools are going on strike. Classes have been dismissed and we have 7,000 lunches we don’t know what to do with. Can you help us use them?”

God provided for the needs of his children.

Mother Teresa’s sanctity was built on a very simple foundation of deep faith and trust in God. Mother Teresa turned to Him in prayer, not only in need, but also to rest in the arms of the Father—body and spirit.

That is how Mother Teresa lived each day of her life.

A typical “Jesus dream or vision” with innumerable variations is usually described by Muslims as a peaceful face that they somehow recognize as Jesus. Often they encounter a compassionate figure in a white robe, calling them to come to Him. Sometimes His hands and arms are extended wide, or Jesus reaches toward them in love and invitation. Many dreams are preparatory experiences to encourage Muslims with the possibility of following Jesus. Other visions or dreams are “epic” experiences of such magnitude that the person knows unquestioningly that he or she is destined to walk the lonely path of faith, even martyrdom, with Jesus.

In the miracle services a community of love and acceptance is created. People feel secure enough to lay aside the barriers of fear, distrust, and egotism that have shut them off not only from fruitful contact with their fellowman but from their own deeper selves. There is a yielding up of self-isolation. The individual loses himself in the group, the smybol of the loving family where one is accepted in spite of his faults and sins. He identifies with the needs of others. He sometimes forgets his own illness, his own needs, in praying for someone else whose need is greater. God Answers Prayer

God's ears are open to the cries of the righteous. When you call upon him, he will answer. Jesus said if you ask it shall be given unto you, if you seek, you shall find and if you knock the door shall be open. It was in the mid 1940's on a very cold winter's day. My mother did not have a warm coat, but her concern was for her four children who needed clothes for school. She turned her concerns into a prayer of petition, and made her wants known to God. God answered swiftly. That very morning a young business woman came to the house bringing an envelope with her. Handing it to my mother she said God told me to give you this money, but you must promise that you will purchase a warm coat for yourself, and the children will have what they need. God heard my mother's prayer and he will hear you when you call upon him. He does exceedingly abundant beyond what you ask or dream.

PRAYER:
Dear Heavenly Father, I come into your presence with thanksgiving. It is by fearful and glorious things [that terrify the wicked but make me sing praises] that you answer my prayers in righteousness (rightness and justice). You are the God of my salvation. You are my confidence and hope. I know that in the morning you hear my voice, O Lord; in the morning I prepare [a prayer, a sacrifice] for you and watch and wait [for you to speak to my heart]. Thank you for answering me from your holy heaven with the saving strength of your right hand. For in you, O Lord, do I hope; you will answer, O Lord my God. I love you with all that is within me, and I praise your holy name.

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room’s only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation.
And every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window. The man in the other bed began to live for those one-hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside.
The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color of the rainbow. Grand old trees graced the landscape, and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance.
As the man by the window described all this in exquisite detail, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the picturesque scene.
One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by. Although the other man couldn’t hear the band - he could see it in his mind’s eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words.
Days and weeks passed.
One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away. As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone.
Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the world outside. Finally, he would have the joy of seeing it for himself. He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed. It faced a blank wall.
The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window. The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall. She said, “Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you.”
Epilogue. . . .There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations. Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled. If you want to feel rich, just count all of the things you have that money can’t buy. “Today is a gift, that’s why it is called the PRESENT”.
