Employee Morale and Productivity

Im doing a University Assignment at the Moment based on Organisational Behaviour and I would like to know ways other than Empowerment and Job Sharing, how to restore employee morale from low productivity?

Does anyone have any ideas please?

1) I suspect that productivity is inversly related to the size of the company.

2) There is a manufacturing company in Seattle (Romac Industries?) that has the employees vote on each other's raises. They say it works for them.

The best way to determine a course of action in OB is to analyse the problems with a couple of relevant theories. Try Herzberg's two factor theory, McClelland's acquired needs theory, or even Maslow's hierarchy of needs.

Once you anaylse it with an OB theory, you should be able to accurately identify appropraite courses of action to rectify/address the situation.

Paying good employees well and weeding out poor fits before they are hired on are your best bets.

Quite simply, if management would realize that you should "do unto others as you would do unto youself" then that productive and the nonproductive employee will feel needed and appreciated. Need and appreciation is the key. Management needs the employee and the employee needs management.
