Honestly, just about anything on Tooth & Nail Records right now. Scr/emo is big right now, so they sign alot of scr/emo bands. It's called supply and demand.

Other than that: Brandtson is alright (although I can't really get into them as much as others); Copeland is good; Vroom is excellent (Throws Like a Girl and Rosebud are both really great albums; you can get them at www.decapolis.com); and I don't feel like thinking of any more.

Showbread for screamo
Showbread screamo?
I like emo and screamo, but it is just too popular right now. The bands that are making it are pumping it out so fast it has lost its quality. Give it a few weeks.

Emo: Subseven, Skillet, Disciple, Chosen X, Blindside, 12 Stones

Hardcore: Project 86, Falling Up, Kids in the Way, East West

Screamo: Dead Poetic, Demon Hunter, Underoath, As I Lay Dying, Haste the Day, He is Legend, Living Sacrifice, Symphony in Peril

I don't know who came up with this list, or how they came to the conclusion to classify these bands this way, but it's all screwed up.

Kids In The Way are screamo, not hardcore.

Living Sacrifice and Demon Hunter are metal, not screamo.

Skillet and Disciple are not emo. Skillet is industrial rock, and Disciple is...what is Disciple? Hardcore or metal? Well, they are definitely not emo...

That list looks like it was done blindfolded or something... :D

Though I'm sure you'll agree that Six Feet Deep was much better. Your screen name is my favorite song that they did.

Actually, I don't ever really consider one against the other, in a side-by-side comparison. SixFeet was a GREAT hardcore band, although I thought Struggle sounded a little too Pantera-ish on cd, but all those songs came across great live.

Brandtson on the other hand, I can't say enough about. I think they've got a great sound going. I'm COMPLETELY not trying to name drop here, but I've become pretty good friends with those guys, so it's really hard for me to be objective about them. But I really do think they make great music.

I don't know
Further seems Forever-emo
Subseven-emo
House of Heroes-I am not sure. Never heard them
UnderOath-screamo
Mae-rock
Showbread-I am not sure what to call them
Norma Jean-hard rock/metal
P.O.D.-hard rock
Staple-screamo
Living Sacrifice-metal
The Chariot-I am not sure. I have never heard them.
There. That is sort of what I think music should be clasified as. Then again, I always thought that rock was pop, hard rock, rock, metal, hard rock, and I had never heard metal.
IMO, scream should have emotional singing[duh] and furious screaming.

EMO stands for EMOtional music and I heard it said in an earlier reply that Christian music couldnt be EMO?

I dont know any more emotional moment than when Christ changed my life...

~Ezz (Godmovement.com)

** Check out Tooth and Nail Records (ToothandNail.com) for a number of EMO type bands with Christians in them....Not necessarily Christan bands but positive music by Christians...Tooth and Nail started as a heavy Christian label and launched POD, etc.

Tooth and Nail only had POD as an artist for the Warriors EP, I would hardly say they "launched" them.

Emo, as a genre, started in the mid to late 80s. With bands like Fugazi and Rites of Spring. Check out google kids, it works wonders.

hah, yes, lots of bands here that are not emo...

one i'm concerned about..

mewithoutYou is not emo or screamo

it's emotionally driven, yes, but emo and screamo fit in genres also by the musical progression/style (lots of bands are emotional, not many are emo) and mewithoutYou is more indie/something than emo

off topic a little, may i ask why you are stopping listening to "secular" music?
