  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I like the Juliana Theory and Copeland. Juliana Theory has been around for a quite a while and I listen to them off and on. Copeland I heard from my bro who has their cd, very nice stuff there. There's other good ones of course too, but those popped out to me and I don't think anyone else mentioned them yet.
I love listening to local emo bands, those are the best in concert...worst in cd cuz they never get a good recording, but I think live matters more. Local emo bands are always great too watch becuz most of the time they just try really hard or too hard, but every once and again there's a few who really beautifully have it down like they really do know what they're doing. Great stuff ya can't beat there.

I think emo has a tendency to infect other genre types more than it set out to make its own genre, but I also think that's becuz really good emo done right is tough to do and takes a lot of talent and effort of the whole band blending together while each one plays an outstanding piece at the same time. That maybe a strange simple piece of truth, but basically to keep emo true to its emotional side it's a tough thing to do for the average rocker.

i've never heard them, what band do are they kind of like?
Eh. In my opinion, they sound like a poor imitation of The Hives. I read an interview where they said that they want to make rock n' roll that people can dance to.

juliana theory is good..................do u like further seems forever, or saves the day???

Further Seems Forever has had more problems than good moments in my opinion..then again I'm not one of their die-hard fans. I like a few of their songs and I think Jason was a great vocalist for them ...too bad he didn't fit in any other way, I suppose. I do give them props for keeping trying to live.

Dashboard Confessional can be decent at times, but I think so many of their songs just repeat one after another, the words just merely get changed around a lil and a slightly different beat ...but still same old, same old. It's kind of boring and over-emphathic.

Saves the Day I haven't listen to in long time :sorry: so I don't remember how good they are or aren't. I wonder if I still have some of their stuff lying around? I should look into that.

btw Would anyone know a band called The Sky's the Limit? If so, I was listening to a song of thiers today and I could swear the vocalist is the same as MAE ...is that right?

I hope this hasn't alreayd been asked but is Dashboard Confessional considered Emo rock?
Yes, but it's the 'new' Emo, not the old kind. There's a world of difference between the two.

indie is short for independed. They do their own thing.

I like indie (w/ emo sprinkled in) bands like Death Cab For Cutie, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Modest Mouse, Coheed and Cambria, Cursive, Bright Eyes, Fugazi, Sunny Day Real Estate.

Urrrgghhh...

Emo is so overblown these days. So tasteless. So generic. So... blah. And the people behind the music- don't get me started! Emo kids, for those with no clue, are crybabys! The kids who update their livejournals everyday and are constantly depressed about stupid things, but still have time to "tease their hair". I'm getting sick of seeing emo kids and fashioncore kids going to shows, because they wanna be "scene".

How many emo kids does it take to screw in a lightbulb? - It doesn't matter the number, they just cry in the dark.

How many days do emo kids go to Disneyland? - Two days, one to go their and another day to write about it at livejournal.

I'm just teasin' you, emo kids aren't all that bad!

I have an ongoing emokid joke with my lady friend at school...whenever she makes fun of me i tell her: "now you've done it, i'm gonna go cry, cut myself, and write in my journal in the lovely corner in the wall."

honestly, I agree with newer emo bads being really bad. It's a bunch of whiners who try too hard to be emo.

And those kids who try to do everything in the 'scene' those are called scenesters. They'll do whatever it takes to be more "underground" and indie than everyone else.

It gets real old real fast.
