  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

My shepherd just bit off , or something, the corner of my jack russel's corner of her ear! I was in the kitchen, and she came running over, not crying or moaning or anything...but she had blood ALL over her. It is still bleeding, but we are looking for a spetic stick (or whatever they're called). But we can't get the blood off of her fur. Any suggestions? She is still acting normal, and not crying when I touch it, I think they were playing too rough (which they keep doing...usually though she is the one biting/playing).
So, hot to get the blood off? And any ideas on how to keep the bleeding down until we find that stuff?
Thanks

wjoopps, little late hear, sorry. try holding a paper towel or dark colored cloth towel where the wound is, to get the blood off the fur try club soda (works on cloth, right?)

i would work on stopping the bleeding, dogs don't mind their apperances and a little blood on her fur wouldn't cause any problems, it'd wear off the fur eventually anyway.

i know it's probably been handled by now, but just to help.

Thanks for the help. What we couldn't get off of her fur was gone by the morning, so it must have wore/flaked off through the night (hah, most of the problem with the blood on the fur was the other dog kept trying to lick it...ew). It appears now to be a scratch, that just bled a lot (perhaps close to something in the ear?). We are going to have a friend who is a vet tech check it out, and see if she thinks it needs vet attention.
I actually am going into veterinary medicine in about a year and a half, so hopefully by then I will be a little less freaked out by an animal emergency...

Thanks for the help!

Dogs heal really fast.. specially facial wounds... and ears! The other dog was licking at it because it's their nature to help heal one another when they are housemates. Also... the dog's saliva is supposed to have somekind of medicinal properties... so they lick to get it clean!

I had a dog that licked and licked and licked all the other dogs.. it was funny... she would lay ther in front of them and wash their entire face, eyes, ears, you name it... sometimes it got on my nerves hearing that constant licking noise! I think she may have had OCD.

I'm glad your pooch is doing okay...
