  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Embedded time seems to be a term tossed around here. Here are some questions I have, maybe this has been asked already, if so I apologize.

Let's say for arguments sake, the universe was created 6000 years ago with embedded time equaling almost 14 billion years.

Does that not mean practically speaking, one should treat the universe as if it is actually almost 14 billion years old?

Why even suggest embedded time?

It is an attempt by some[one] to reconcile what they think the bible is saying about the age of the universe with the real age being discovered the more we learn from observation.

The fact that the calculations done is not in the bible itself and is not just a little off doesn't seem to face them at all. Not to mention that it would make God a deceitful one...

There is no reason to suggest otherr epicycles onto previous epicycles unless the reason for the epicycles is erroneous to begin with, by both sides.

Strange that this "embedded" age without history is filled with historical events, like vulcanism, earthquakes, rising and falling seas, impacts, etc.
It's embedded-age-creation, chief.

All your vulcanism, earthquakes, rising and falling seas, impacts, etc. came well-after the creation week.

Just like evolution has nothing to do with abiogenesis; earthquakes have nothing to do with the creation week.

It all comes back to God and what He created in that first week.

Adam and Eve, Animals and trees, the planets and earth...all were created with a certain age as their origin.

God created a mature chicken, not a hatching egg

Why do you think that God performed Creation like that? To confuse us?
Sorry,my God is not a deceitful one.

Not confusing at all if you take the Bible as the last argument over ALL other arguments made up by man.

That is like tallness without height.
If you say so.
Maturity IS history.
Yes, you said that already. I got it the first time.
So maturity without history is not maturity.
You would look silly having to explain how a tree with 100 ripe apples on it didn't even exist the previous day, wouldn't you?

I can envision the following conversation:

Adam: Want an apple from this tree?
Freodin: No, I want a ripe apple.
Adam: This apple is ripe.
Freodin: How did it ripen, when the tree didn't even exist two days ago?
Adam: God did it in a moment of time.
Freodin: Sorry -- no history, no ripen apple. I have standards.
Adam: What are you going to eat then?
Fredoin: Um ... well ... uh ... I'm sure I'll find something around here with the proper amount of history behind it.
Adam: Good luck.

Well, let's see ... that's a tough one.

So Adam wouldn't have to wait fifteen years for fruit trees to grow?

How nice it must be when you just have a conversation in your mind without bothering to have any real people to talk to. It removes all the pesky problems of having to deal with other people's opinions, instead of just your own.

If you would even try to read and understand what other people say and write, it seems your whole worldview would collapse. (As for reading and understanding: aren't you still due an apology, Mr. Nice Guy?)

See... I never said that "no history, no 'ripe' apple". (Are you really arab phoning me here? I said mature, and you change that to ripe. Bad style AV, bad style! ;))

My position on this is: "mature apple - apple with history". In this special case, it would be fake history... but that is something you just cannot accept, so you have to revert to your nonsensical "embedded age" idea.

So, if you want to have imaginary conversations involving me... at least get it right. It is quite impolite do misrepresent others in this way... and we wouldn't want to think you are impolite, or would we?

Well, we'll just cut this conversation short then -- how's that?

I'm tired of wasting my pearls on you guys anyway.

The more I post, the worse it gets.

I've made my point, and there's really not more that can be said on this particular subject.

God ordered it -- that settled it.

So, you make up a sockpuppet of me, and then, when I speak out against this, err, deliberate untruth, you call that "your pearls"?

Others might call that bovine excrements.

But you still owe an apology. Are you going to keep your promise or not?

And hence you know why some are on half the peoples ignore list.
