• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Like Jesus did?

Well, if a historical jesus existed he grew up in the ancient world where creation myths and superstition were the norm. I don't think you can be blamed for believing the same stories everyone else believes when there's no way of knowing any better. Today, however, it is a little different. You have to deliberately ignore the last 500 years of learning to maintain the same level of credulity.

The last 500 years of learning can take a hike when it comes to God working miracles.

And in one easy step we're back in the Dark Ages. Which is quite ironic really, as Christianity takes most of the credit for the Dark Ages being the Dark Ages in the first place.

Not exactly.

John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

Just like the 'Big Bang', another misnomer.

You can yak about 'dark ages' all you want, we Christians know what true darkness is.

You didn't answer my question: Jesus spoke of believing in wars between angels and half-angels leaving craters on Earth? Where?
He did more than speak of it, He wrote it!

One can take Genesis seriously, without misinterpreting it as a literal history. Or adding lots of nonsensical stuff to it that wasn't even implied.
How would you know I'm 'adding nonsensical stuff to it'?

As I showed earlier,* you guys wouldn't recognize basic doctrine, even when I tell you whose doctrine it is.

So everything must seem like nonsensical stuff to you guys, eh?

It's just a matter of degrees, isn't it?

* With the Gap theory.

Strange then that so few Christians on this board agree with your interpretations of the bible.

Again -- how do you know?

And do you agree with their interpretations?

Because I've seen many Christians here tell you that you are talking retarded nonsense, or words to that effect.

My own view is that the old testament is a mixture of myths, legends and folk history. So, yes, pretty much in line with Church of England interpretations.
