It is possible that God sped up the speed of light to make the light instantly appear on the earth.

God doesn't have to follow any of the laws of physics/science.

Again, when in doubt, summon up some magic...! The cure-all for the faithful...!

It is possible that you have two heads....but in the real world we deal with what is PROBABLE, not possible...

You can't prove they didn't. That means you are in no position to question the record.

I can't see some mere biological tweak resulting in ten times the length of life for man. (and animals). We also have data in the bible that suggests trees grew real fast, and spirits could live here with men. We also have all the water and land separating in creation week with no great friction and heat produced. We also have stars seen days after they were made. We also have all life on earth (save the sea life) on an ark about 4500 years ago! That means that all species either adapted and evolved SINCE then rapidly, or the ark was a lot bigger than it was. Etc.

I can question the dubious "record" of the bible all I like, just like you are free to doubt the Greek myths or the Vedas.

I actually know some of the biology around aging (not completely known of course, but we are getting close). As it turns out, cancer cells (of all things, am I right?) don't age, they just divide indefinitely forever so long as they have the resources to do so. These are human cancer cells, clearly, human cells might have the potential still for much longer life spans. And that is in the physics of today.

Well, the whole flood in every aspect is improbable. Really though, if an omnipotent being is in charge here, magic isn't exactly off the table. Why not, it is supposed to be god, right?

Then let's see you say something about the altering of spacetime.

Please explain this passage:

Exodus 2:23 And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage.
Exodus 2:24 And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.

Here's your chance to mention an alteration of spacetime.

If you choose not to, then please quit belly-aching about the Bible not mentioning it.

Here, I'll even give you a second one -- much easier:

Genesis 28:12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.

We call that Jacob's Ladder, and although it was a dream ... it may have really existed.

If so, please explain it, using current physics.

Easy.... Both are fairy stories.... Even the Jews themselves have jettisoned the
'bondage in Egypt' myth....

But we're not talking about what the Jews think, are we?

You said this:
And nowhere in it does it say ANYTHING about an alteration of spacetime...
... and in my opinion, you're wrong.

You're not entitled to believe me; but to hide behind what the Jews think is not stating your opinion, is it?

Think what you like.

My perspective is that if a god does exist, I find it highly unlikely it was personally directly involved in the writings of any religious text, or any text for that matter.

And I saw what this said before you edited :p

Back to the point...

There is NOTHING in those scriptures, whether one treats them to be a literal description of events or not, that claims an alteration of spacetime, or the laws of physics...

So some stuff that kills men could last even longer if it did not up and kill us so fast? That doesn't make you live 1000 years.

Bull....show me the verse that says that spacetime has been altered from that time to this..........you are making it up...! But, why should that surprise - you believe in fantasy stories....

Our laws would not allow what happened in the bible. No why our state changed or how God changes it doesn't matter! Whether the way time and space mingle and result in forces and laws being how they are was the exact way God did it, we don't know. But one thing we do know, and that is that you do not know!

Pssssst.........it's a story...! A made-up story....! And nowhere in it does it say ANYTHING about an alteration of spacetime.....You. Have. Made. It. Up.

No. It is fact. Through and through. So how do you add a strong nuclear force and other forces to the mix here on earth? Face it you don't know how or why laws and forces exist! You just try to work with what God has in place the best you can.

Time is involved in forces and laws though. How long a spin takes, or decay takes, or how much time light takes to move, etc etc etc.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA......!!

'Ironic Post of the Year'.............hands down...!
You losing it??

Proof is overrated.
Easy to say when it is a stranger to you!

I go for the high probability, based on weighing the evidence. Then I pick the best option and go with it . . . a step of faith, if you please.
In other words if it fits you:wave:r religion. We get it.

If one holds out for absolute proof, one will never get married, never commit to a religion, never choose a college, never choose from the restaurant menu.

If I ask the manager if the beef is really a rat, I expect some proof it is what it is supposed to be.

By the way, have you considered the implications of the fact that you have vestigial ear wiggling muscles?

At least I don't have itchy ears.

Perhaps in the former state the muscles were good for something no longer useful here.

No, but it shows that biological differences, rather than physics differences, can cause longer life spans. Btw, lobsters, nepenthes (tropical pitcher plants), hydras (a microscopic organisms), all have this same property as cancer cells in that their cells don't seem to age and cause overall crippling aging effects. Interesting to think, that should a lobster not catch some disease or be eaten by a predator, they can live much longer than you think (world record is 100 years.). These are life forms which do not become more likely to die as they age (unlike humans).

I am not opposed to anyone's belief in a young earth. What I oppose is the creation and presentation of deliberately misrepresented information to support that belief. And yes, there are many sources that do just that.
I tend to cringe at a lot of the flood geology stuff also.
