of America mean to tamper with, by pushing falsities.
Note that no political party or group is now immune from this online
tampering.
But, note that Russian has been highly successful at influencing the far
right voters, through its massive false information efforts aimed at the
Republican Party, and the (Republican) conspiracy theory channels
and talking heads.
Note that (I assert) those who are less educated, and who read only one
source of "news" (such as Fox News), or Tucker Carlson, are most at
risk.
Reading from the top 20 news sources (I assert), presents parallel articles on
the same event. And if you read them all, you will be able to pick up biases
in some of the writing, and also be able to recognize a "center of gravity"
in reporting about the event.
This is the advantage of reading from a central source like the Google News page.
