  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

What are your experiences with eHarmony?

Just for fun, I went on there the day I turned 21 and entered my 400-some survey to get my "$40 value" personality survey which just verified what I already knew, reading with a candid demeanor:

"You are crazy."

So I went on and found that I instantly had four matches in my mailbox, with each person living a minimum of 500 miles from me. I started typing up my lil' spiel; I read their bios...okay but not very exciting...within half an hour two women tried to email me. I freaked out and ran.

End of story.

LOL that's freaking awesome Fatolia! Personally, I'm a big fan of www.okcupid.com. It's totally free and has a TON of funny stuff. Has alot of offensive stuff as well if you're easily offended but I'm more the type to laugh at people for being offensive then actually taking offense.

I did the free trial of eHarmony to see what the fuss was about (fuss created almost completely by commercials. YAY commercials, my lil friends)
Mostly I did it because I truly adore questionnaires that get deep into your personality. I love learning more about myself! hehe.

i found a few matches.

but nothing worth 40 bucks a month! (or whatever it costs... an arm and a leg)

and besides, I found who God had for me without paying for it :) praise God.

Well you are still single and not yet married so it's fine by me if it is fine with everybody else.

Does e-Harmony adverstise itself as a Christian site, though? Not trying to debate, but I am just wondering (typing) aloud. Most of those sites allow for filtering, like twistedsketch mention. And I know there are sites that say they are Christian dating sites, like Christian Cafe. But I wasn't aware that e-Harmony adverstised as a Christian dating site.

No, E-Harmony does not advertise as a Christian dating site. I joined once and got through the entire communication process with a guy and never heard from him again. Hmmmm. Not worth the money I spent. I cancelled my membership after a month.

I like Christian Cafe, Christian Penpals, and Equally Yoked. Those are all Christian services to meet friends. I don't use "dating sites" anymore for the purpose of finding a match; however, I always enjoy good conversations with brothers and sisters in Christ. Equally Yoked is not an online dating site, though. You actually call them and go into one of their offices to fill out a questionaire and they do a background check and whatnot.

Whoooo, thanks for the heads up, Hockey. I have one eerie story from Christian Cafe.

Back in my lost days, I used to spend alot of time in Yahoo Atlanta Chat. I met a guy in there who said he was a private investigator and he wanted to hang out, but said that he didn't drive because he was in a car accident as a teenager and was terrified of driving now. I don't know, maybe I'm hateful, but there's something about a man who refuses to drive when physically capable that turns me off. So I respectfully declined his offer for me to drive an hour and a half to meet him so we could hang out with his two bets guy friends. Something just made me uncomfortable about the whole situation. So he had a few choice words for me via YIM and then I blocked him and went on my way.

Two years later (about a month ago) I get an email in my Christian Cafe mailbox from a guy named Mike who lived about an hour or so away who was a PI. He sent me another email asking me if I wore sandals and toe rings in the summer and if I liked to be tickled. They just seemed like bizarre questions coming from a man to a total stranger on a Christian website. I asked him if he was the same Mike who didn't drive because he was scared to and he said, "yeah...how do you know me?" and I never responded. I didn't want to dredge that one up again. Ugh, small world.

I think eharmony tries to "pretend" it is a Christian site. I also think it advertises as a site where "good" people come who are emotionally healthy, stable, wonderful people. I tried a $10 two week full membership thing on there. I got a bunch of matches, but only 2 were interesting and were committed enough Christians for me to want to talk to them. I still email one guy sometimes, he's pretty nice. The other guy I talk to sometimes as well. He's also nice. I don't know that I would like to meet or date either of them though, but they are cool to talk to I guess.
