  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Here is Gods prophesy against Egypt in Ezekiel 29.

In the tenth year, in the tenth month, on the twelfth day of the month, the word of the LORD came to me: 2 “Son of man, set your face against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and prophesy against him and against all Egypt; 3 speak, and say, Thus says the Lord GOD:

“Behold, I am against you,
Pharaoh king of Egypt,
the great dragon that lies
in the midst of his streams,
that says, ‘My Nile is my own;
I made it for myself.’

4 I will put hooks in your jaws,
and make the fish of your streams stick to your scales;
and I will draw you up out of the midst of your streams,
with all the fish of your streams
that stick to your scales.

5 And I will cast you out into the wilderness,
you and all the fish of your streams;
you shall fall on the open field,
and not be brought together or gathered.
To the beasts of the earth and to the birds of the heavens
I give you as food.

6 Then all the inhabitants of Egypt shall know that I am the LORD.

“Because you have been a staff of reed to the house of Israel, 7 when they grasped you with the hand, you broke and tore all their shoulders; and when they leaned on you, you broke and made all their loins to shake. 8 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I will bring a sword upon you, and will cut off from you man and beast, 9 and the land of Egypt shall be a desolation and a waste. Then they will know that I am the LORD.

“Because you said, ‘The Nile is mine, and I made it,’ 10 therefore, behold, I am against you and against your streams, and I will make the land of Egypt an utter waste and desolation, from Migdol to Syene, as far as the border of Cush. 11 No foot of man shall pass through it, and no foot of beast shall pass through it; it shall be uninhabited forty years. 12 And I will make the land of Egypt a desolation in the midst of desolated countries, and her cities shall be a desolation forty years among cities that are laid waste. I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and disperse them through the countries.

13 “For thus says the Lord GOD: At the end of forty years I will gather the Egyptians from the peoples among whom they were scattered, 14 and I will restore the fortunes of Egypt and bring them back to the land of Pathros, the land of their origin, and there they shall be a lowly kingdom.

Here is what God says He will did:
  1. Egypt and everything from the tower of Syene to Ethiopia will be desolate and waste.
  2. Countries around Egypt will be desolate as well.
  3. No humans will walk through Egypt for 40 years.
  4. No animals will walk through Egypt for 40 years.
  5. Nobody will live in Egypt for 40 years.
  6. Egyptians will leave Egypt and be scattered among other nations.
  7. After 40 years of scattering, Egypt will be repopulated by the scattered Egyptians.
  8. Egypt will be a weak kingdom, and will never control "the nations".
There has never been recorded in history a time when Egypt was a desolate wasteland, where no human or animal did not walk through for 40 years.

If prophesy is a reason you believe the bible is true this should at least cause some questions. Ant then there is the prophesy of Tyre in chapter 26, where Tyre is supposed to be destroyed forever by Nebuchadnezzar. This never happened, actually they came to a truce 13 years later. Alexander the Great destroyed Tyre 240 years later but you can see Tyre in the same location today.

I found a YouTube video called "Is Ezekiel the worst Bible prophet?" and talks mainly about Tyre and a bit about Egypt.
It also mentions:
Ezekiel 14:9 "If a prophet gives a false message, I am the one who caused that prophet to lie. But I will still reject him and cut him off from my people"

For some reason I was under the impression that I can't embed the video which is critical of the Bible...

I agree with you that a literal interpretation of this prophecy makes so sense. Would it be possible then that there is a symbolic meaning behind it?

I wouldn't be surprised that's how many people in Christianity have understood it, especially as Christian spirituality is full of the use of Egypt and a symbol for death/evil.

Nope. Why don't you explain why this prophecy has not been shown to be false.
rejecting truth isnt what helps a discussion im quoting scholars while you are being disingenuous

I am not signing up for an account to any site. How am I being disingenuous?

Here is my thread on Egypt and Tyre,

Egypt a Desolate Wasteland?

You are also quoting evangelical Christian scholars from an organization that's purpose is to:

The Institute for Biblical Research is an organization of evangelical Christian scholars that fosters excellence in biblical studies within a faith environment.

So, I don't think they are all that reliable. I doubt that they would have come to the conclusion that these prophecies were false.

I dont believe there denom but they explain quite well. When i say your being disingenuous im basically saying you aren't being sincere in this discussion.

How am I not sincere?

Using a site where I need to get an account is not a good source. I am not going to sign up for an account. Can you explain what they said in your own words? Or can you rebut what I said about it directly in my post? It is clear to me that this prophecy is false for reasons in my OP.
