Editing Software

I'm looking for an inexpensive but of decent quality editing software. Any suggestions?

beachcomber, what do you need the software to be able to do for you? Photoshop is not inexpensive, so ya, you can rule that out. Here are a few you can check out:

I use Corel PSP X2... been using various forms of Paint Shop Pro for years and really enjoy it.

I heard good things about GIMP..... never tried it though but since it is free may want to check it out. I currently use PSP 6

If you're a student, Photoshop can be reasonably priced.

I'm a GIMP user. I have found it to be fairly good, for a free program, and well worth a check out.

people have mentioned gimp - there is also a gimp variant (with the menus and stuff set out like photoshop)

but if all you want is quick and ditry editing there is a programme called 'paint dot net' (for windows only (i think)).

Would you like to edit JPG files, or RAW images from your digital camera? As for JPG, already mentioned GIMP is a good free thing to start with.
If you need to edit RAW, Nikon Capture NX 2 is working well for me (but i'm not sure if it can edit also Canon RAW files).
