  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

k, so I've been browsing, and I came across someone selling a Bag of British Air. Then reading it, it turns out he's not even selling the air; just a bag to put some in. I can't work out if that's satirical genius or one of the saddest things I've ever read.

Also came across a fella selling his imaginary friend.

Also also, there's a category for "My Soul", in that people "sell" their souls. Do you think there are any spiritual aspects to doing that? The thought of someone doing that makes me feel dreadfully uncomfortable, though I can't say why, really. It just feels a little like they're toying with something that shouldn't be played with, maybe.

Your thinkings (and bizarre eBay listings :)), please

I think that selling one's soul, even in jest, opens doors that ought not be opened. It is amazing what people will sell (and buy) on ebay.

The weirdest listing I can think of right now is the one where somebody sold their father's ghost. Apparently, their son kept complaining that his grandfather's ghost was bothering him at night, so they sold it on ebay. The winner of the auction got his cane. I don't know if the boy stopped having nightmares, though.

I buy & sell on ebay.

Weirdest thing I ever saw was someone selling breast milk. Blech...

They actually have charities (I doubt they are on ebay) that collects breast milk & ships it to Africa for the newborns there.

THAT I could live with - they probably have very strict protocols for dealing with breast milk. Heck, *I* had strict protocols for dealing with it, and it was my own for my own babies!! ^_^

One thing that really ticked me off this year on Ebay was the number of scammers who were selling email addressed that had Wii or PS3 in them but making them look like you were getting the whole console, for about $100 bucks. They'd include a picture, and the description would be for the console, and then in small tiny print in the auction they would have:

You are bidding on an EMAIL ADDRESS

Ebay finally had enough, I think, because the one guy that I reported is no longer a registered user and I haven't seen anything like that in awhile.

Wierdest ones I've seen are chrome appliances that reflect nude photographers.

I think the soul selling auctions are by people who really don't believe in the reality of the soul, or of any 'afterlife.' I take these auctions as being side-effects of a spiritually ill person.

Saw an episode of Jude Judy last month where some lady was selling an expensive cell phone and then they only sent a photograph of the phone to the winner- the seller's defense was that the add clearly stated that it was a photo of the phone they were selling and not the phone itself- the winning bidders spent like over a 100 dollars per phone.

The seller is being prosecuted in criminal court on multiple felonies...

A great site to visit is called: Paypal Sucks. This is a good site to read about ebay and paypal nightmares.
