  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi everybody,

Here's something else I'd like some thoughts/opinions on. I'm about 8 1/2 weeks now, and have to say I've been lucky with morning sickness...besides a very sensitive gag reflex, I've been feeling pretty good. The only thing is I feel I like I have to be snacking almost all day or I start to feel sick. Over the last year, I've been gaining weight to begin with due to a much less active job, and kind of thought I would try NOT to change my eating habits much when I was pregnant because I felt I ate too many calories a day anyway for my change in lifestyle. But I've found if I try not to give in to initial feelings of hunger, I start to feel sick and then I don't want to eat anything for the rest of the day unless I pretty much force myself. Has anyone else experienced this or had this problem? How can I make sure that I'm not eating more than I should be? Thanks for the help!

I was hungry ALL the time at the beginning of both my pregnancies. I just ate when I felt the need, and didn't eat if I wasn't hungry.

I guess I felt that my body knew what it needed...I think the main thing is to try and eat healthily, rather than to restrict your eating too much.

Plus I figured I could always lose the weight afterwards...I did the first time around, and I will this time too...

Hi Kathi!
I'm also in my 8th week. I haven't had m/s either, but do get nauseated when I get really hungry (I was this way before I got pregnant, though). I've found that if I have a couple peanut butter crackers, or a handful of carrots or grapes, my hunger and nausea go away without eating half the kitchen. One thing you can do is to keep a food diary - write down everything you eat - and then modify what you eat to "healthier" things. The thing that has been most helpful to me is planning out my meals for the day to make sure I'm getting enough of what I should be and not eating what I shouldn't. I think the most important thing for me has been eating more fruits, vegetables and whole grains. I have to admit, there are days I feel like I am eating too much and have constant indigestion from continually eating.
