Indigo is fond of eating plums, but whenever he goes swimming,
he'll likely get back pain if he eats plums before swimming. The
probability is 80%. Ouch.

Which of the following is correct??
  • We may conclude there is definitely a causal relationship between eating plums and getting back pain while swimming, generally speaking;
  • We may conclude there is definitely a causal relationship between eating plums and getting back pain while swimming, in the case of Indigo.
(causal relationship between X and Y means: X causes Y)

What is wrong with the second option?

In the wording :D -- We may conclude there is definitely a causal relationship between eating plums and getting back pain while swimming, in the case of Indigo.

It should be -- We may conclude there might be a causal relationship between eating plums and getting back pain while swimming, in the case of Indigo.

I think that the inference or inductive leap is fully justified by the frequency of the pattern which involves the obvious and unfailing temporal priority of the stimulus followed by the response.

Did you mean the 2nd statement (We may conclude there is definitely a causal relationship between eating plums and getting back pain while swimming, in the case of Indigo) is correct?

No, it's incorrect.
