  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Have you ever seen the inside of a factory farm?
It is all animal cruelty. They are stuck in cages without room to move. It is loud and highly stressful to them. They are poked with needles, kicked around, diseased, many have their beaks cut off, and they live their short lives like this until they are electrocuted, sliced open or have a bolt shot through their heads.
It really couldn't be worse for any living creature.
If you eat meat, then you hold some liability for that.
I do my best to avoid meat from factory farms. I know the ranch that my meat comes from at home. I do my best to buy kosher as well. A factory farm and a sustainable ranch are completely different environments. Not all farms or slaughter methods are the same, as such simply saying that if one eats meat one is liable does not always apply.

is it a sin though?
I do not know, but in the strictest sense I would say no. However, we are called to be caretakers of the Earth, to treat them with respect and dignity as any part of creation should be. But we were also given explicit dominion over them. As such where do we draw the line? Do we weep for the wasp that we kill when it stings us? I should think not. We must do our best to maintain balance and to treat animals as respectfully as possible, but also not forget that the scriptures are explicit that eating them is ok. If we choose to not eat meat, that is OK. If we choose to eat meat, that is also OK. But we still need to attempt balance and dignity when possible.
