Some quotes/poems on Earth Day

"O the green things growing, the green things growing,
The faint sweet smell of the green things growing!
I should like to live, whether I smile or grieve,
Just to watch the happy life of my green things growing."
- Dinah Maria Mulock Craik,
Green Things Growing

There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but Nature more.
~George Gordon, Lord Byron, Childe Harold's Pilgrimage

"I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze."
- William Wordsworth, Daffodils

I've always found days like this to be somewhat superficial. I see the benefit in it that at least people do something good for one day that they wouldn't normally, but what's the point if you're only doing things different for one day. We need to be more aware every day.

Yes. It may be superficial. But things like this does help shift the focus onto an area of importance and can help slowly shift the world into a new path.

I don't think we should underestimate the power of small things :)

I will be celebrating earth day by driving to my exam.
Remember to take the largest car you can, leave the engine running and rev the engine (aith the AC on).

Just joking!

Good luck on your test.

I agree with you Terrasin. What good is it to do something good for the earth one day but not every day? Not much good is it? Anyway, God has called us to be good stewards of the earth. We should follow His command. Unfortunately, I'm not sure where in the Bible it says to be good stewards of the earth. :(
