Yep, or to put it more correctly, perhaps, God allows the dysfunction that results when man alienates himself from God, so that we might ultimately learn, the hard way but with the help of revelation and grace, to acknowledge and to heed Him: that we might learn that alienation and independence from God is not at all a good thing, but a very bad and unjust one, that only results in more injustice, more sin, more dysfunction, yet.

I don't think these verses are referring to human dysfunction per say ... rather, I think they're referring to the fact that the Israelites/Jews [ie. The Clay] would always be a people in and among the Gentiles [i.e. The Iron] and would always more or less stand out from them culturally.

Disfunction is not God's will ... He knows what mankind will do (He knows the future) ... that is why He sent Jesus to help us through this wicked and sinful world and to provide us with a hope and the future in Christ when He returns.

Kingdoms will rise and fall until Jesus returns.

The dysfunction keeps the nations from gelling as an empire. The United States is half Republican and half Democrat for example...

We will likely exist until Jesus returns... But with many issues. God is not going to allow us to gel as a world empire.
