Who said that the man in the image of God was physical?I hope I'm not understanding you, correctly. Are you trying to communicate that, e.g., a godly amputee is less in the image of God than an ungodly whole person?
Gen 5:1 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, he made him in God's likeness.
2 He created them male and female, and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.
Happy?
Where does it say Eve to Adam's name when they got married? This is talking about God's name for them when he created them.
E.g., someone who was so devoted to Christ that when authorities came and told him/her to [bow before an idol|renounce Christ|live in debauchery|despise widows and orphans] he/she refused -- and so the authorities took an arm.
In that moment, did this person lose something of the image of God?
Who said that the man in the image of God was physical?
To breathe life. What is life?
Man in this state is a reflection of that image. What makes man a man is beyond the physical. Plato did his best with an analogy to explain the real and the reflection. Its not "complete" but the message is adequately conveyed.
That is another subject, but to put it really simplistically; Why do they both called Adam?
The final outcome is grace and truth becoming unified. If it isn't then God has still forsaken you.That is another subject, but to put it really simplistically;
the spirit of man and woman was one. When God created Eve, he separated into the two spirits. Now when they get married, they become one.
This brief explanation does not due this justice at all, it would be wise to read up on this if it interests you.
Adam is Hebrew for mankind.

Genesis 5:2
Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.
It's the name that God gave, the male Adam named Eve.Is Adam also a person in their genealogy? Why do they call their very first ancestor "mankind"?
What did Jesus say? This strays away from the OP. But ...
Would the united spirit in a marriage separated again when the couple die?
Because Adam is a picture of God creating mankind. Adam may be the name of the character in the story, but Genesis 5 tells us it was God's name for people, plural 'them' 'their' male and female. Is Adam also a person in their genealogy? Why do they call their very first ancestor "mankind"?
At the day that they were created God made Adam, male and female. Then He took Eve from within him and separated them after telling them about not eating from the k.o.g.a.e. tree. Adam named all the animals before the separation.

After the fall Eve was named as mother of all living. Gen 3:20
There's the thing abt the 2 becoming one with Christ. I beleive that we must encompass all of our selves to be true entities in heaven. Since you asked in what appears to be good faith I'll answer with what I consider to be correct at this point in time. There are those who will not accomplish the complete transformation that will be joined to Christ as the male, aware of His moves. Then there will be those who are joined to the Father who will be free humans working from the Holy Spirit. It doesn't matter the gender now. If you ask for biblical references for these views I would have to decline because hey are too vague for clear proof. It's only my opinion that I see within scripture. There are many people who share this opinion so perhaps they could offer more proof.Would you still be a female when you are in the Heaven? I really like to know what you think about this question.

The end result will be as the beginning, 2 walking with God.
