Why do the Jews reject Jesus as the Messiah?

Since I could stand up on my own, for reasons I cannot explain to this day, I have felt that I was meant to be Jewish. It has become stronger and stronger as the years go by. It is this ceaseless whispering in my head that feels...right, even though I don't really get it.Yet, as someone who accepts Jesus of Nazareth as my Lord and Savior, it becomes...tricky.

So, whatcha' think? Can a gay, gentile, Jesus-lovin' woman become a Jew?

If you keep the "gay" "gentile" and especially the "Jesus Loving" part of yourself to yourself then I see no reason why you can't be a jew

there's an article on Beliefnet about a woman who was Baptist that became a Jew. She said she felt the same as you...always thought that is what she should be. I can't tell you what you should do, only that you should go where God leads you...

i think it's because the Jews see certain things as problematic:
1. the messiah has to be from the line of David i believe, and how can someone be of an earthly lineage if his father is God...a non-human?

2. the claims that the messiah will bring peace to the world and all will believe in God, and all Jews will be brought to their homeland Israel. there is no peace to the world, all the people dont' believe in the Abrahamic god, and the Jews are still scattered.

4. the claim of Jesus being God. even tho i know there are some Christians who don't believe that Jesus ever stated He was God, the majority of Christians do believe and teach that Jesus was and it is the main teaching of Christianity today and Jews dont' believe that a human being can be god.

5. the concern of Jesus breaking the Old Law, when the Messiah is to abide by all the laws.

these are the concerns i've seen brought up with Jesus being the messiah from Jews.

now there is Messianism, which seems to be more of a Protestant thing started, but they are ones that really seem to look back more at the Judaic relation instead of triumphanting Judaism/fulfilling it. i don't know too much about Messianism, but i know someone who does, and i could send you their name on a pm if you wanted me to. this person could probably answer any question better than i could.

I have met born again Jews. Just to toss that in there. You can be a Jew and believe in Jesus as Savior. After all, Jesus was a Jew!!

It is typical of our topsy-turvy God to have the very validity of Jesus as the Jewish Messiah rest solely upon women - whose wtiness in a Jewish court of law would be automatically considered a lie.........

His lineage to Davis was through... his mother!
The ressuerection was witnessed first by.... 2 women!

Many Jews dont like that - theyve spent centuries degrading women, rather like the church

I've had that same feeling since I was very young.

Problem is, I reject any faith that requires official conversion. I could see myself believing as a Jew does, but I could never BE a Jew.

You should look up the Noahide movement. I don't know if it's what you're looking for, but it's interesting.

My opinion on this:

Christianity is a faith. While it is classified as a religion, it's really more accurate to say that it is the fulfullment of religion. For the first Christians, it was Judaism, eventually Stoics and Epicuriands had thier beliefs fulfilled through Christ, and so on.

However, some will argue "You're not as much a (Jew, Buddhist, Zoroastrian, whatever) as I am because you hold to the basic principles of Christianity." In some cases (Scientology), it's pretty much impossible to reconcile; in some, there's definately some ground on the religion you'll have to back down from (A Muslim's for Christ group would have to back out of the whole "Jesus wasn't crucified part," which would mean that not all of the Quran is true).

So, you're lead to believe in Christ, good! Now, as for practices, go on, participate in Jewish practices, since it's your faith in Christ you're saved by, instead of works.

Considering how far Jesus went, chivalry is the least we can do, equality is actually in us guys' favor.

For example, my heritage lies in Druidry, so I honour my roots and adopt the practices and philosophy of my Druid ancestors - who, incidentally, rather than convert to christianity, simply accepted the Christ that Patrick introduced to them as the missing piece of wisdom in their own faith-system (if it could be pinned down as such!).

Similarly, we recognise aspects of our God reflected by Jewish traditions and language that, if you so feel, would be helpful to adopt.
