That whole movement ONLY associates with their own denomination. Think about it.

I think most people only stick to their churches. I know when I was a kid, and went to the Mormon church. They believe they were the only true church. I'm sure many believe the same thing. They wouldn't have went to a different church to discipline or seek advice. Yes I'm sure the Duggars only seek the religion they believe. I'm sure that's the reason people have been saying they are in a cult.

A lot of people are also commenting about how sexual Jim Bob was towards Michelle on the shows (there's 10 years worth of evidence) on the show and in front of the children.

They kiss in front of the kids. So they understand affections are normal part of marriage.

But I'm sure the father had no idea, that this state troopers was into child porn. He was probably trying to get advise on what to do.

It's not a matter of lack of forgiveness. Forgiveness is not the same thing as a lack of consequences. Josh was never tried or convicted for his crime. He was told to help a family friend build a house, received "counseling" from another sexual predator, and then got a "stern talking to" from a friend who covered up the crime who was later convicted for child pornography.

The parents knew, as did Josh's wife, Anna, and the victims. They knew and they covered it up and now act as if it was just boys will be boys, no big deal. Josh was never punished to begin with, so having their show cancelled and being subject to public scrutiny is hardly "more punishment".

Being a child molester is not about bad parenting or a failure. It's a serious, serious sex crime.

All of this. I don't see any justice here. It's not like I'm going to go on their Facebook page and leave nasty comments (I agree that "berating" them is pointless and wrong), but I'll certainly never support them.

And I'm not really sure what it would mean for me to forgive him, anyway. He didn't do anything to me. I don't know him, so I can't know if he's earned forgiveness. The only thing that matters to me is what kind of people I'm supporting with my time and money.

Funny how they spend their time deriding consensual actions and parents who haven't done anything wrong (and many of whom adopt) while harboring a pedophile. They didn't have any problem with him getting married or having children. I can imagine what they would have said about a gay pedophile who wanted to do the same.

I think the Statue of limitation is to short in that area, not that I think that would make much of a difference. The victims will never seek justice. They think since he's repentant, he's save and it will never happen again. None of the 5 victims even turned it in. The best justice they can get now, is Josh never doing it again.

And I'm not really sure what it would mean for me to forgive him, anyway. He didn't do anything to me. I don't know him, so I can't know if he's earned forgiveness.

This was not a one time incident. It involved five different girls over a period of time. That's not a single moral failure. Then, we have the moral failing of the parents who not only covered it up, put the blame on the girls (one of which was FOUR), and then continued to allow him access to his victims. Since the parents told the victims the abuse was at least partly their fault, there is no way to know whether it actually stopped or not. It could easily be that they're just so ashamed that they don't say anything.

How do we know this is the only failure?

It seems this question also is an attempt to cut them slack because they had 19 kids. Why should we bother to try to imagine how we would do if we had 19 kids?​

My point is that the Duggar parents has 19 children and to our knowledge they only have this one sickening failure by only one of their children. The act was horrible but I think that the Duggars have done an average or above average job of raising children. In addition, the Duggars have taken in the elderly mother of Mr. Duggar. I do admire the Duggar parents for the good that they have done.

If you have a lot of children and none of them have committed any moral failures then I would admire you as a parent more than the Duggars. For you parents that are throwing stones at the Duggar parents, have you raised lots of children and not had one moral failure among your children? Be honest!

The responses to the Duggers have said many times that they do not like hypocrites so in your answers to the above let’s not be hypocrites!

Moral failure is a rather broad statement. Again, how do we know this is their only moral failure?

I don't think about the Duggars nor care what they do. I don't even know why I am commenting about them. They raised children, like most of us, and everybody is susceptible to moral failures. This topic does not excite me. I never cared to know who they were on television and I still don't care who they are. I hope their kids rise above this to be better people.

The dad's, Jim Bob's, behavior is at least as bad as Josh's. He knew what his son was doing and did not protect the victims, he protected his son who continued to molest children for a couple of years. He did not get his son appropriate treatment and I suspect he did not get his daughters any either. If the mother knew, then she is also responsible for failing to protect the younger members of the family (and whoever the other victims were).

(1) Josh Duggar and his wife need to be investigated by child protective services for his own children's sake.

(2) Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar need to be investigated by child protective services for their other children's sake.

(3) If CPS determines that either Josh's children and/or his younger siblings are in danger of sexual abuse or other abuse, they need to be removed from those homes.

And I make no apologies for having a deep disdain for sexual abusers, especially of children, and I certainly won't make excuses for them or for their behavior.

Pointing out truth is not "berating" them.

Just the same as any non-celebrities.

There's hypocrisy on both sides here. There is no reason why Duggar's actions shouldn't be scrutinised. Equally, when the bizarre behaviour of someone like Lena Dunham is ignored by liberals, no wonder people think we're being hypocrites.

They're certainly similar in that a teenage culprit touched their sibling and engaged in sexual behaviour with them (and generally even demonstrating sexual behaviour while in the presence of a minor counts as sexual abuse, even if you don't lay a finger on them).

People are saying Dunham didn't cover anything up. I'm not sure proclaiming your weird predilections in your latest attempt to cash in is much of an improvement.
