  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Others committing similar crimes were not faced with jail time.

Why?
Who do you know of that fraudulently donated money under other people's names and lied to cover it up and then was not prosecuted?

Law 101: The "possible sentence" is part of the law. And media often quote the extreme to make it sound more dramatic. However, his lawyer is requesting no jail (suspended sentence) and I would be surprised if he got any jail time at all. This appears to be a plea bargained case, which makes it likely the sentence will be on the low end of the scale. We'll have to wait until the sentencing hearing.

Remember, he did not simply exceed the campaign limit, he had two people, one being his mistress, contribute and he paid them back in an effort to get around the contribution limit. That is what is known as "Fraud".
Pfft. Next thing you'll tell me money laundering is illegal.

Thank you for confirming you have no answer. It would be easier to say that next time instead of the usual hand waving.
If I had the answer, I wouldn't have needed to ask the question

I'd guess D'Souza's days as a Christian apologist and doing debates on the topic are likely over.

Anyone watch any of his debates with Christopher Hitchens or Bart Erhman? This guy is not the sharpest tool in the shed.

I'm surprised he's been in demand at all since being booted by King's College for apparent marital infidelity.
