• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I had an appointment with my Docotor last week and we were talking about the changes to the DSM that are to take place next year.

He said in a nut shell that aspergers is being brought under the autism diagnosis. However that PDD-nos is going away and is really being replaced with Social Communication Disorder.

SCD is to say that one has the social and communications impairment that is found in autism, but the repeateded behaviors and interests are not strong enough for a autism diagnosis. He said at this stage in my life that SCD would probably be a better diagnosis for me then autism. (which reading the criteria I can agree with it. My repeateded behaviors, routines and interests are not really all that encompassing anymore. They haven't been for along time.)

So apparently come next May I will not be autistic anymore. Will I still be allowed to hang out and post here? There is no SCD forum and I don't feel a kinship with any of the other forums.

Also, I am going to tell everyone that Jenny McCarthy healed me.

Hey Moe,
Thanks for sharing your story. It's a shame that so many people are going to be losing their autism diagnosis, in my opinion.

You're always welcome here. The DSM changes nothing, in my opinion. I feel everyone is welcome. I've not had a formal diagnosis but my life falls into place when I see the symptoms.
