  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

It's a GIRL!! :tutu: :pink:

Everything looked fine as well. I will have to get a shot at my next appt. becasue I have A- blood type and if the baby is RH positive & the blood mixes it can be very dangerous. Never heard of such. I knew my blood type was rare but didn't know of this.

Here are some pics. Now the 4-d ones look kinda funny so don't be alarmed! :) The U/S tech wasn't going to do one cause she said peopel get kinda freaked becasue they think their baby looks like a alien. I'm like bring it on!!

1st pic: Awwww
2nd: my big ol feet!
3rd: I'm #1 (Right after that pic we were laughing & she opened her mouth too it was funny!)

Actually, the Rhogam shot is pretty controversial. It Does contain mercury (although you can REQUEST the mercury-free version), and a lot of women are waiting until the baby is born to see _if_ there is a blood issue or not (in a normal birth there should Never be any blood mixing to worry about). IF there is a blood issue (baby's is different) then they'll ge the shot. The Vast majority of the time the baby is the same blood type as the mother. Here's a site with more info: http://www.nccn.net/~wwithin/rhogam.htm

Congrats on a girl! :)

Oh gosh after reading that I am almost in tears because I don't know what to do. My mid-wife just acted like it had to be done @ 28 weeks & it was no biggie. Thank you for that link!!

I had the it at 28 weeks with our oldest and didn't think anything of it and honestly wasn't informed.:( With our second and third the doctor's were great and provided lots of info. I waited until we knew the blood type of our babes. All 3 of ours have my husband's blood type.

Beautiful little girl!

I was taught that the blood type issue only really becomes an issue with the second baby (and all babies after the second baby)...

I was told:

-Mom is Rh-, dad is Rh+, so the baby will be Rh+ (Rh+ is dominant).
-When the first baby is born and the placenta rips, Mom's blood gets exposed to the baby's blood.
-Mom's blood makes antibodies when exposed to the Rh+ antigen.
-Mom gets pregnant for the second time (baby is Rh+ again) and some of the antibodies she produced after the first baby can attack the second baby and cause Hemolytic Disease of the Newborn.
-To prevent Hemolytic Disease of the Newborn, the mother is given RhoGAM. The RhoGAM tricks the mother's body into thinking it has already made antibodies against Rh+ blood, so it doesn't bother to make any and the baby doesn't get attacked.

I was probably taught a simplified version of the whole thing...but I thought it was only an issue with the second baby...

No, I don't know his blood type unfortunatley & I know he doesn't know either.

I may call the doc office again & see if I can talk to someone in more detail. It really bothers me that I was told I HAD to have this at 28 weeks & I may not have to.

I'm just confused about it all still.:sigh:
