My calico cat is sitting beside my chair as I type, looking longingly up at my lap. The reason I won't let her up is that she DROOLS when she sits on me! I've seen hundreds of drooling dogs, but has anyone ever had a drooling cat?
It is another way they "mark" you as their territory. Kind of like when a tom cat sprays his territory.
Except the drool is more an affectionate way of marking.
I think all of us would prefer drool to urine!
Also if your cat ever kneads on you, or playfully bites or nips you they are showing their affection for you.
Drooling can be a sign of a medical problem if they dont stop drooling, or if it is in massive amounts. You could tell the difference because there would be so much it would be like they plunged their face in water, If there is that much drool take kitty to the vet.
Otherwise just feel "grateful" that your darling kitty has laid claim to you as theirs exclusively.
It is sort of gross, but no worse than a dog licking your face.
I used to have a cat that whenever I pet her, she would start drooling. Just did not seem all that natural to me. At that point,
I would set her down on the floor and tell her to get over it.
