I cam across this great site on Christian history. The good thing about it is they actually go to many places off the main tourist track to where the biblical events happened. Which brings the bible alive.
The particular episodes I watched was called Acts to Revelations. Which goes through the history of the early church from Penticost, to Pauls missions, Peter and James letyters and finishing with John on Pathmos with Revelations.
They trace the journeys, visit the cites such as the possible places Paul was imprisoned and the cave John lived while writing revelations. It shows how the first martyr Stephen began the Christian persecution in Jerusalem and how the church was dispersed throughout the Empire.
I watched this on Netflix and its not available on Youtube and it looks like its behind a pay wall if you don't have a cable subscription. But I will link a couple of free videos and one which sort of covers what I mention but not in as much detail. But you will get the gist. There were a couple of others I thought interesting as well.
I find its a great way to know the bible. It brings alive what happened by visiting the sites and including archeology and then the bible verses that go with these events. You learn the smaller details which add flesh to trhe stories and take you back to those times. It lends weight to their truth as really happeneing as the bible said.
