  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I work in the lives of young people who have alcohol problems. Some of the kids who I am involved with are full-blown alcoholics ; some of them are as young as 14 years old. And their biggest dream in life is to go completely straight.

I see alcohol as they do- a destructive force that has stripped them of their innocence and, quite possibly, of their futures.

So I have a big problem with alcohol whether it's used in excess or moderation.

But to each their own.

P.S. I applaud your two month abstinence from drinking. That takes tremendous strength. I wish my kids were as strong.

I do enjoy red wine with meals, I cannot have more than one glass.

We as Christians are allowed to have a drink but when we get drunk we loose control and starts sinning. This is where the problem lays, some people never know where to stop and then get hooked on alcohol.
I believe if there is alcoholic problems stay away from it even if it’s not you but your spouse or children. Never use alcohol when it’s going to let someone stumble.

Ha ha ha! :D

I gave up all alcohol because my tummy couldn't handle it, but my life straightened out as well, since when I drank socially I got too social! I thank God that I've had no desire for it since I quit!

Some Christians choose not to drink for personal convictions, and I myself am such. I grew up with an alcoholic step-father and I want nothing to do with that, plus it dulls your senses and reaction time, and I would rather by sharp than dull. So I like sweet tea :)

Hi, The reason I'm against drinking is there no good that come from drinking. I have family that is Catholic and know other non-Catholics that drink everyday and it doesn't do anything good for them health wise. I was raised around these people for 38 years so I know what going on in these churches. Drinking to get drunk is a sin. I think when churches say nothing about people getting drunk is the same is saying it's ok to do it. I might getting trouble form Mods for saying this but it's true.

Hello Everyone:

God Bless
Hi there!

That's great that you haven't had a drink in two months...

It's a choice... and I personally believe that it can be a stumbling block to my Christian walk, so I choose not to drink any... I don't want anyone to look at me and say... "hey, she drinks so it must be okay for everyone!"

It's not okay for everyone.. and it isn't okay with me because God showed me differently. When God shows you differently, then do as He tells you to do.

A Christian walks in the light as they are given the light.

I'm not a big drinker, though I have before... It wasn't a good time for me then. I still do drink, every once in a while, but usually only with others. To me, it's a muscle relaxant and can help me get comfortable or loosen up to be able to have a jolly time with those I care about. Note, however, that doesn't mean I take it in large quantities so I can't feel my fingers or toes. There is nothing in the Bible against alcohol--Jesus even makes wine from water at one point in his life.
God Bless,
~Marc
