I am new here and this is my first post. I looked for a thread for Dream Interpretation and did not find one. So I chose this one. I need help in interpreting my dreams.

For awhile I had recurring dreams that I was in my childhood bedroom (I am an adult now) and it was night and the window was open. I saw lightning and heard several super loud booms of thunder. I tried to cover my ears but it didn't help. I had a feeling I was safe inside the house, but there was no getting away from it.

Later, I stopped having those dreams and started dreaming of tsunamis hitting populated areas. Each time I was either at a safe, high distance, watching it sweep things and people away, or I saw it in the distance and left before it came. I always knew ahead of time it was coming, and it was no surprise.

Then, one night, I dreamt I saw volcanoes in the distance, and lava was shooting up from them.

Last night, I dreamt of tornadoes. I saw a bunch of them gather over a group of people in an open field, and then the tornadoes joined together into one big tornado and people started running, but some were blown away. The tornado was approaching me, but I was able to get away since I saw it coming (the people didn't). I also saw other tornadoes forming.

I'd like to know what these dreams mean. I think they mean some sort of judgement--maybe God's judgment on the world, or on me?

If this post is in the wrong thread, can it be moved to the right one? Or can you direct to it, and I copy and paste it there?

Welcome! It looks to me that you've chosen an appropriate forum for your question.

You'll probably receive a bunch of answers and that they'll range all over the place, but I personally think that dreams reveal something about ourselves. Maybe it's anxiety about the unknown or of other difficulties you're facing. Or maybe you are too much a fan of disaster movies or the "Final Destination" series. It could be all sorts of things that your mind was mulling over but you weren't conscious of. Many people report dreaming, again and again, of situations that relate to their jobs.

What I do think is that you should be very cautious about assuming that they are anything like prophesy or a forewarning, or in any way as predicting future events. Such a thing has been reported in the past, but the chances of it happening in our lives in extremely small. BY the way, my own guess is that there are more dreams that are gloomy or scary than ones in which we are doing something good and wonderful. Perhaps our subconscious minds are more active in storing up 'second thoughts' dealing with regrets or worries than the nice things that happen.

There's a lot of commonality in these various dreams. Each one speaks of disaster, but in each one you are safe. You are either at a distance or you see far enough in advance to get yourself to a safe distance.

Therefore I would dispense with the idea that you are under judgment. Indeed, the opposite is true. You are under the Lord's protection. You are seeing difficult things, and that is disturbing, but in it you should hold onto your peace and assurance in the Lord. He is holding you safe in the palms of His hands.

Let that encourage - not frighten - you. And maybe you can use your understanding of what's coming on the earth to warn others and get them to spiritual safety as well. Aside from the personal assurance, maybe that's why you've been having these dreams.

And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.” -Acts 2:40
Considering the news these days, the dreams don't seem fanciful at all.

Blessings.
