  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

An outdoors wedding at around 5pm in Snohomish, Washington during the month of April or May. It would also be a small gathering --- only our closest family and friends.

Since that doesn't cost much, I would spend more on the honeymoon. I think an Alaska-Carribean cruise would be nice. Doesn't really matter, so long as we're together.

My dream wedding? Quite honestly, the one in which I have a godly man standing before me, whom I dearly love that actually reciprocates my sentiments! The precious intensity of that alone causes all else to be superfluous. (I have never been the type of girl to dream of her wedding day, being preoccupied instead with the series of days thereafter that comprise the actual marriage. :) )

Yeah, same here! I used to get a knot in my stomach just thinking about how some day I would have to make this grand entrance into a church, and everyone would be LOOKING AT ME!!! And even worse, once I'd made it past all those eyes, I'd have to stand up in front of them for almost an hour ... and SPEAK! Out loud and everything!

(btw - I've gotten over it - I don't know why I'm still single, but I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with this!)

The social aspect isn't all that appealing, is it? :p Even so, I would most definitely indulge my bridegroom if he desired such a scenario. However, I would humbly request that he accompany me in foregoing the cliched reception so that we can commence our own private affair elsewhere. (Only because I am not a social butterfly, of course--not due to any desire to have him to myself!) :p ;)

I have heard of some ceremonies lasting only 20 minutes or so. Apparently, it depends.

:)

I am not particularly intimidated by the thought of so many witnesses and I realize we must consider the feelings of others, yet I simply do not like the idea of so many individuals being present.

I'm still dreaming of a relationship that doesn't last LESS than 6 months. I don't even know what it's like to be a committed, long-term relationship. I've had no reason to dream of my wedding because too often it feels like I'm never going to get married. *sigh*

But I suppose I'll play along. Uhh...hmm. Haha I can't think. Well I guess I don't care. I don't see myself wanting a really big wedding. I will just want very close friends of the family and immediate family to attend. I'd want a dress with sleeves, but not sleeves that'd suffocate my arms. More like...off the shoulder sleeves. Something tasteful and elegant. Or oh, like bell-bottom sleeves, with the sleeve widening up from the elbow down, maybe like whatever that woman's name is from Lord of the Rings lol. Kate Blanchett's character...that elven queen or whatever. As far as flowers, well...I love sunflowers. 'Nuff said. And if something interesting can be done with dragonflies or butterflies, then yay.

But eh, as I said, my dream is pretty much to find a man who SERIOUSLY wants to have a wife and marry me and be a godly husband, etc. Once he's in the picture, THEN I'll dream of the wedding.

Heh - at this point just having a groom would be enough of a dream come true! :D

We are ----->here<------ on that. LOL

However, I understand the spirit in the which the question was asked, so I'll respond :)

I want something small and simple - like Cherub an outdoor wedding would be nice (although it is windy in Kansas 365 a year so I'm not sure if that will happen. LOL ) Maybe at a botanical garden or someplace like that. Just with God, family and close friends.

I don't see the point in spending $$$$$$ of dollars to make a "grand entrance" like the Oscars, hoping to mesmorize everyone (plus that money can be spend on buying a house). I want everyone in attendance to be mesmorized by the love radiating between my husband-to-be and myself, as we make a lifetime commitment of faithfulness, love, and dedication to God and to each other.

Well Now, to be funny about it. I have dreamed what I call the Bill Gates wedding. That is, it would take about one-quarter of his wealth to pay for it. And that is have a wedding on the "Space Shuttle" and the two week honeymoon flying to the moon and back.

A more realistic dreams wedding is a scuba-diving type. I just think it would be so nice to surrounded by God creatures that are in peace with what they are.

But I guess the best answer is like Lunalinda. When I find the lady that she and I have become serious couple then I will seriously dream about a wedding with her.:sigh:

I've been to a gazillion weddings. Well, maybe not that many. If I had to do it over again (maybe one day, I will), I'm with StarCradle on this one.

Every time I photograph a wedding, I watch closely to see what's going on, who's enjoying it, etc. While the $100K weddings are pretty incredible, it's the $5K (or even $0K) weddings that seem to be the most intense and beautiful. After you strip away the huge church, several bridesmaids and inebriated groomsmen, the ice sculptures, food, DJ and roving violinist - oh and that $5K wedding cake - all you have left is the couple and their promise to each other and to God. That's what it all comes down to and that's the only thing that is expected to survive the day. Well, that and my pictures, LOL.

So, if I get married again, it will be at a very quiet, very beautiful place with a pastor, and our closest friends and family. Probably at the beach during sunset or in a garden sanctuary or autumn forest by a stream somewhere. Then maybe a sit down candle light dinner and dancing under the stars, and no one will notice us slipping away into the night. Nothing fancy, just sharing the moment with people that matter to us. I don't even want to wear a tux. Doubt I'll get married again, but it's worth dreaming! sometimes I think of it and get sad.

But then I remember I'm sitting outside in sunny 75 degree weather with azure blue skies and all you people in the midwest and up north are getting snow dumped on you, so my mood is lifted by your misery :D .

I have two sunday school friends in my class that are getting married at the Christian camp that they work at and they want it outside because of the Lord creating nature as well as creating the outside as His.

I want to have a contra dance at my reception. Not any of this silly ballroom type stuff. As for the wedding itself, I've been told that it's good to let the bride have the first say if she wants, so I'll wait for that. If money were really no object, I'd have a bunch of scientists research weather control so that we could have an outdoor wedding on a perfect day. :D

I also vision a wedding with men with black tuxedos with suspenders as well as the ladies wearing red and strawberries with chocolates and a white cake for the bride and the groom having a chocolate cake.

I have to agree with the statement about having a groom...being my perfect wedding.

My dream wedding wasn't always what it is now, but it has been this for a while.

I would like to get married at my church on a Sunday night after a abbreviated worship set, let by a friend who plays the guitar. I have several songs that I would like sung. I would like the pastor to bring a short message on Christ and the church as His bride. And have the ceremony be part of the message, like an illustrated sermon. That's my dream right now.

Another thought I had and would enjoy equally, is to be married at the camp I will be working at this summer....it's beautiful up there...

This is just a running joke that I have. I would never really do it. But a few years ago I said that my dream wedding would prolbly have to be civil war style (time period clothing, the horse drawn buggie, and even the shotgun that her dad would be holdin.) hehe. jk ya'll

hm... Well, I have a few ideas, though only for the reception and honeymoon part of it. The ceremony, I would say a minimum of flowers, and comfortable, with the people who are special to my bride and I... I guess I'll have to ask her when she gets here.

I was thinking a few ideas for themes. One, which was considered for the wedding that I was engaged for (though I don't think she was as keen on the idea) is a "world-class" wedding, with the flag of a different country at each table of the reception, food from a variety of different cultures (it would be cool to go potluck and everyone bring a traditional dish from their homeland), and the dance would have songs from around the world... folk dances as well as the classic dances, and it would be cool if people dressed up in cultural dress as well. And I would want to have worship at the wedding - if not a band, then hymns or cultural worship music from a few of the cultures there (as I have numerous acquaintences from many different cultures)...

Another idea that I was thinking would be like a fantasy/Knight and Lady style wedding, or even LOTR style... although I don't have as many ideas of what this will specifically look like, except that I want to find and rent some armour for the day. You know, be the "knight in shining armour" type of thing... although I really don't know logistically how that will work. It will probably have to be outside, if it is this one, and I will have to show up on a steed. You know, a knight and his horse... I would like to have some sword fighting in there somehow, symbolic of fighting for the heart of my beloved...

Hm... the beach sunset idea could be a good idea as well. That one will HAVE to be very small, I would think. Small and classy, and the same with the reception. And the music for the reception will probably also be soft, like instrumental blues or jazz or something like that.

Yeesh. Here I am, thinking about a single day, when really all of my attention should be on a lifetime... Oh well...

I'd love us (me and hypothetical fiance :p ) to say our vows in a tiny little church in a little English village, where nobody knows us...with friends and family there, of course. Then a honeymoon in a little B&B somewhere.
