  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Every once in a while I see threads on dreams and interpretations. I don't know how I get dreams. Nor do I know what my soul does when my body is in sleep. Knowledge about these belong to the wise. I am an unwise, but I would like to share what I have learned through my dreams and visions with other believers.

Rarely dreams and visions reveal a truth outside the bible. Once in a while I learned something new from a dream. Then, I come across a bible passage that explains the previous dream or vision.

Dreams and visions explain the truth that I failed to understand from reading the words. And I fail to understand the words because I lack obedience and thanksgiving.

Which is greater, then, a commandment of Jesus or a dream? Which is a greater loss, lack of obedience to Jesus' commands or lack of dream interpretation?

I want to receive more dreams and visions from the Lord because they are messages from him. But more than that, I want to obey his commands in the bible, "Forgive," "Repent," "Love your neighbor," "Give up all your possessions," "Take up your cross and follow me," "Pray day and night for righteousness," "Be humble as I am humble." These are Lord's messages of utmost importance, and I yearn to be able to obey all.

If the Lord gave me a choice between many dreams/visions and obedience to a single command, I would gladly choose the latter: Be an imitator of Paul.

I want my brothers to seek more dreams and visions from the Lord. But more than that I ask my brothers to seek obedience to the written commands of the Lord. I hope I did not speak beyond my understanding.

Your Brother Rupert

Rupert, I don't believe you spoke beyond your understanding. Because God created us to be spiritual, it is easy to be led astray by a vision or dream. Thankyou for your words of wisdom. Any vision or dream which is from God will stand the test of the scriptures. I don't believe that God ever gives us something that can't be backed up by His Word. If we ask Him to confirm that a vision or dream is from Him, He will do so by pointing us to the very scripture or scriptures which prove it. Your post encourages us to stay anchored in God's written word. :amen:
