  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

... set forth by some ordinary guy from ancient times who supposedly had never even been with a woman. Why should anyone take advice on sex from him?

 Who him? When him? Which him?

This a very decidedly male oriented point of view... obviously because you are a male. However, notice the impersonal and objectification of the woman, or women, in your description. It is all about you.

The one who may not have existed at all, may be a composite of several people, or if real, may not have said many or all of the things attributed to him.

I am glad you have the gender icons figured out. Did it take a lot of study, or did it come naturally?
However, notice the impersonal and objectification of the woman, or women, in your description. It is all about you.
You can read anything into it you want. The description said nothing about how I treated the women involved. You also assumed that the women in the group sex acts were all for me. It so happens they were doing each other as well. Aieeee, bisexuals! Unclean! God smash!

Did it occur to you that only women with similar outlooks would be interested in such liasons? Maybe they treat me as an object and I am happy to be one.

It never ceases to amaze me when people bind love and sex together as if they are all one thing. Sure, they can be related, but nothing says they have to be. Simply liking the other person and wanting to make her feel good is enough for me.

By all means, stay with your mindset of "one woman for life because a virgin expert on women and sex commanded it", but let other people do things their own way.

What harm are we doing anyone? If you recall, that's what the OP asks about drawn porn, but it really applies to anything related to sex.

I think nearly everyone would be able to get along with christians if they worried more about their own "sins", rather than everybody else's.

I think we have trouble with the word "harm" here. I imagine jackrabbit and I define harm as actual observable negative impact on actual people or things.

I imagine those who can't accept pornography as legitimate entertainment define it somewhat differently. Jackrabbit even mentioned one of the problems there, that being potential harm.

It seems that to some, if it can hurt someone, it's just as bad as actually hurting someone.

The entire argument of objectification of women, as well as the argument about turning people into sex demons or whatever does have merit, but not the perit that those who use it think.

The fact of the matter is, porn is fertilizer to sexual deviancy/sexism's plant. It will only cause growth if there's already seeds. For people who already harbor unhealthy urges or incorrect notions, pornography can act as an amplifier. Even then, it's not assured.

The simple fact that pornography has yet to be outlawed is sign enough of this. If its effects were really so terribly all-encompassing, it'd have been noticed and acted on. Since pornography is not only not illegal, but in fact highly prosperous, its positive effects outweigh its negative by a vast margin.

One important factor in the actual versus potiential harm argument is likelihood. If 90% of people who drank became alcoholics, there would be greater sentiment against booze by everyone.

Of course, banning it is another story. They tried that once, and we have organized crime as a result. Banning prostitution gave us pimps.

There are many things with the potential to harm people, including all forms of transportation.

A few people die in car and plane crashes, but it would be idiotic to ban their use based on that.

It's all about risk assessment, cost/benefit, and personal choices based on these things. And in the case of sex, protection to reduce the risk.

The human body is the temple of God. Pornography, drawn, movie, cartoon, etc. is defiling the temple of God. Sex was given to us as married, man and woman coming together to be fruitful and multiply. Not so we can just make someone feel good.

So are you saying that Brandy Harrington or Lola Bunny porn is okay? Or are dog and bunny bodies the temple of god as well?
Sex was given to us as married, man and woman coming together to be fruitful and multiply.
Which shows the foolishness of following alleged commandments from thousands of years ago. At the time that was written, there weren't many people and the earth needed populating. Where is the update from god saying: "Yo! Believers! The earth is populated now. You did it! Okay, you can throttle down the fruitful multiplying now."
Not so we can just make someone feel good.
Reason enuff for me.

Well maybe if God wanted sex to be just an arbitrary thing for procreation maybe he shouldn't have made it (especially the more...interesting parts/positions/activites) feel so good. Sex is a beautiful thing for a reason. I do wish people like you would stop trying to ruin it and turn it into some dark awful thing that is only to pop out a kid. Does love not enter in it at all for you people???

I do not see how people can complain over porn. Especially a drawing. Its the most inanimate object you could have.

Besides as my husband is always fond of saying, its not watching porn that objectifies the people in it..its the person and their attitudes doing the objectifying. :)

Is it defiling the temple of God to enjoy good food, or good art, or to ride a roller coaster for the thrill of it?

I would no flush the fishies. Real fishies are much more fun than the fake ones, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy the fake ones too. I actually like the unpredictability and personality of the real fish, even spitting gravel at me (in fact that one is my favorite fish - I named him Pablo).
