Yes... Correct... Not the gentiles. These are all Jewish believers who have been scattered about this world of ours. For many Jewish Christian believers, including Lehman Strauss, the options were to join gentile denominational churches. I believe in the seven churches came about as congregations...
Ephesus - Messianic - Beginning with the Apostle to the Circumcision, Peter. A truly Jewish congregation.
Smyrna - Martyr - Beginning with the Apostle to the Un-Circumcision, Paul
Pergamos - Orthodoxy formed in this time... Pergos is a tower... Needed in the dark ages
Thyatira - Catholicism formed in this time - The spirit of Jezebel is to control and to dominate.
Sardis - Protestantism formed in this time- A sardius is a gem - elegant yet hard and rigid
Philadelphia - Wesleyism formed in this time - To be sanctioned is to acquire it with love.
Laodicea - Charismatic movement formed in this time - Beginning with DL Moody, the first to make money off of ministry
For many Jewish Christians the option was for the gentile church. I have no Jewish friends, have never met a Jewish Christian, and do not know any of the Jewish faith. But it would have been a joy to have meet one of them, especially of the Messianic congregation. I also would have loved to have had conversation with Lehman Strauss.

Where do you live - Rockytop? If you are in VA, there should be a Messianic congregation within driving distance.

It would have been a neat thing to have beheld the revival which was at Joppa, which would have been a 100% Jewish congregation.
32 And it came to pass, as Peter passed throughout all quarters, he came down also to the saints which dwelt at Lydda.
33 And there he found a certain man named Aeneas, which had kept his bed eight years, and was sick of the palsy.
34 And Peter said unto him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately.
35 And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron saw him, and turned to the Lord.
36 Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.

38 And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them.
39 Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.

41 And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.
42 And it was known throughout all Joppa; and many believed in the Lord.

If I ever visit a Messianic church I would expect to find something totally different, seeing my interpretation of the seven churches, and it would be a neat experience.

I really do not know much about that congregation. But I am familiar with Tikvat. Jamie Cowan is an acquaintance of mine (founding pastor) and I served in a worship team with his daughter Jen and her husband Judah Morrison. Good folk all. After Cowan moved to Israel, David J Rudolph took over, another good friend of mine, but he left about a year ago to teach at a seminary in Texas. I do not know who is currently leading the congregation.
I think you would like David J Rudolph. He is an up-and-coming theologian in the Messianic world. But you would probably like even better another guy who used to be on staff at Beth Messiah, David C Rudolph. (not related) He has a SERIOUS prophetic gift, and works in miracles. He runs a school of evangelism in Cyprus called Gateways Beyond.
