They should all be free, except for th epro verrsion. I prefer winrar. After it is installed, just double click on the file, or patch that you have downloaded. Then it pretty much takes care of its self.

Occasionaly after a double click, you will need to then click on the set up file.

nope I downloaded the program but still nothing.

Which program? And could you give a bit more info as to what this "nothing" consists of? There's a lot of stages at which "nothing happens" can happen. Did winzip/rar not install? Dit install but won't run? Runs but won't recognize or open the file you want to unzip? What?

I could tell when you didn't know how to unzip a zip file at 16.;)

Anyway, did you install winrar? Don't tell me you downloaded winrar370.exe then just double-clicked resevil4patch.zip or whatever without running winrar.exe.

When winrar370.exe installs, there's a setup screen asking what file formats to associate winrar with, of which only rar is selected, and to get just double clicking the .zip file to work you have to associate .zip files with winrar.

If you did installed winrar and just blew past that, go to whatever folder you installed winrar in and run winrar.exe. then click "file" in the top left corner, then "open archive" in the menu that pops up. In the window that pops up go to the folder you have the .zip file in and either click the zip file once and hit "open" or double-click it and it should open. Winrar should then be displaying the contents of the .zip file.(this is what should happen when you just double-click on the .zip file if you have the zip format associated with winrar) Then click the "extract to" button and either type in or broswe for the directory you want to unzip the zip file to. Keep in mind that you will need to do different things for different zip files, especially patches. It's important to note that Winrar always wants to unzip the zip file into a new folder in the zip file's location named after the zip file, eg. it automatically wants to unzip the contents to the folder C:\resevil4\respatch if you had the patch respatch.zip in the C:\resevil4 folder. This can be a problem with many patches as they require unzipping the contents into a specific folder. Game patches, mods etc. often require unzipping into the game's main folder.

And depending on the patch it might not matter where you unzip it to as one of the extracted files might be a program(usually setup.exe) you run that finds the game on it's own.

There should be installation instructions for the patch somewhere.
