  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I think you both misunderstood this post, and got way to offensive.
:(

I guess that's why I responded: First Response, I should have worded it better to First Reaction, Second Reaction, etc.

Yes, it seemed to me I read the topic as another person giving us Anime fans a hard time. Sorry, it didn’t realize you were targeting a specific people in the anime fandom. It was a miscommunication. I said to be a Troll because I was under the impression you just wanted to insult anime fans and see how they react. Again, sorry for the miscommunication, more details in your topic such as “I love anime, but hate it when…” or something on those lines to make it less confusing.

I do get tired of people thinking they are better than someone else, and try to tell those people that you are better than them is arrogant. That’s what I thought you were doing, but now I know that wasn't the case.

At any point, I would say to lighten up, it was meant in the purest of kidding and jest. I was not steaming in the head when I wrote back but rolling my eyes at the thought of another basher. So I responded in kind which was incorrectly taken.

I think if you like anime, just because its anime is great! Why? Because a higher demand! And a higher demand the more companies make it available here it the US. So bring them on! ;)

Cosplay of the oppoiste gender of female-male is great, cos a lot of times the male characters are rather soft and such..but male-female is just wrong.
Um, ok. No. I know a couple guys who have pulled it off very well. Why the heck is it ok one way and not the other? I think you're just scared of seeing some hot chick at a con and finding out "she's" a guy ^_^

Not to be nit-picky, but I think you mean shudder. I remember a picture a friend of mine showed to someone who thought conventions were all full of greasy nerds with potbellies. He was like "WOW! There are hot chicks at these conventions." "Um, that's a guy." "No she's not." "Yeah. I know him." LOL! I wish I could have seen the look on his face.

Maybe I've just been ruined by the dancing Faye dude.
The reason I'm more open to women cosplaying as boys is because it's easier for a woman to look pre-puberty-boy-child than it is for a 45 year old man to look like a hot chick. This is undeniable.

If I see someone who's hot, and it turns out they're a man, what does it change? Nothing. Even from a Christian perspective, I was already lusting, so it doesn't really matter.

In the subject line, I aimed this topic at a certain group of anime fanatics.
I never said it was aimed at anyone other than those certain fanatics. If you read my posts you will find I post almost entirely in the anime forum, so to call the anime fans out here would just be completely pointless.

Your post gave no indication that it was in jest, and was aimed at me, and included many insulting and offensive phrases and intentions.

You mistook my post. You miswrote your own.

Ewww, dancing Faye dude. Scary badness someone once linked me too. Very painful. It is easier for a womanl to look like a teenage boy then visa versa, but I've seen it pulled off very well. Like everything in cosplaying it depends on the quality of the costume.

Come on, you can't say this isn't pulled off well:

That's the thing about miscommunication… it is miscommunicated. I wasn’t the only one that thought that way, so therefore it was miscommunicated…. Sorry for being so dumb but when someone labels a person or group as Otaku, without knowing your knowledge of the thing, can easily be taken as someone meaning anyone into anime. AGAIN, I mistook your message. Either I am totally stupid or I just read something different than your intentions. Geez…

Thanks for being so wonderfully understanding.

I'm sorry I was not more clear about who I was talking about. I stated who I was talking both in the subject line and in the actual post. If you were not as the ones I described then there was no reason for you to be upset about my post.

All I'm asking for here is a bit of an apology for being flamed, instead of an apology for being misunderstood.

Thanks for being so kind in that department

I’m asking for you to admit that your message was not clear, and you are asking for me to apologize that I read your message wrong. So well, as two stubborn people, hey I have a bit of Saito Hajime in me so sorry for the sarcasim. PLEASE CAN YOU FIND IT IN YOUR HEART TO FORGIVE ME!!! I WAS A BAD LITTLE BOY!!! :(

No really, sorry for not reading your post right - Invader Pichu’s response confirmed my suspitions of you attacking anime folk, and since I haven’t seen you here before I didn’t know. But to end this petty bickering I will bow down my pride and say SORRY!! Actually, didn’t I say sorry a few posts back? Oh well, yet again I state it. :prayer:

Technically, you apologised for the miscommunication ;)

For future reference: how could I be more clear? I stated "otaku," and gave a brief description of the people who I was talking about..and apparently, neither you nor pichu fit that description - or both automatically got defensive because I mentioned 'down with' and 'anime' in the same topic.

Maybe it was just because you didn't now me, so you didn't know I was an anime fan. Or something..
I'm sorry I did not make the point of the topic more clear. It was late at night, and I made it as clear as I knew how without my eyes falling shut while I was typing.

..oh, and apology accepted ;)

Okay *takes deep breath*, I apologize because of my misunderstanding your message, I responded with a disrespectful message, which I thought was appropriate to respond in kind, yet wasn’t because you did not mean it that way, so I extend the apology to my inappropriate response rather than because of what I thought you were saying… *inhale* :)

Didn't read through every post... too much for a late night... but I agree that the word otaku is used really badly missused in america. It's very negative in Japan.

Really, that is the point I was trying to make. When people say Otaku my first response, since I am in America, is to take is as anyone into anime. But now I know better… ;)

......Remembers the day an old aquantance went up to my high school japanese teacher and told her that he was an otaku. She avoided him for the rest of the year!

I do understand what the starter of this thread is trying to say though. While I have been lucky to not of encountered any of those people in my life, I have encountered too many too think of online.

Yep, now that I understand what he was meaning I totally understand what he is talking about. I am for it in the sense it brings more anime into the US, but I am against it due to the fact that obsession of anything of Earthly origin isn’t healthy. I personally haven’t met any nutcases with anime, then again I haven’t ever gotten into a group of anime lovers. I am kind of alone in my enjoyment of it which is why I joined this group.

In America I always knew Otaku to be anyone into anime, that is someone who liked more than just Pokemon so to say but actually had some fan stubs or stuff directly from Japan, or owned an entire series from eppsiod 1 to the very last. I have all three in my case. But now I understand better the true meaning of the phrase and will no longer consider it to be as such.
