What's up with all the Reformed criticism of Doug Wilson? I've heard him called a heretic, although I have never seen anything from him that I find unorthodox. I find his writings on family issues and slavery/racism to be particularly enjoyable and profitable. His creativity seems to know no bounds. I am fairly new to the Reformed camp... is there something I'm missing?

I believe Doug Wilson is in the Federal Vision camp along with Steve Wilkins, etc.

FV has been charged with Neolegalism from a number of opposition groups.

From what I remember, I found little from this article that I disagreed with him. Other articles I found much stuff I disagreed with.

I don't think so. The criticisms are largely unfounded, and his writings (and those of his friends in Moscow) are a breath of fresh air in Reformed theology.

I just started reading the Federal Vision (edited by Steve Wilkins). I've read a good bit of stuff on the web and one of NT Wrights books (which I need to reread, because I still don't have a handle on what he said).

I also have the book The Auburn Avenue Theology, Pros and Cons: Debating the Federal Vision from Knox seminary.

From what I've seen "So Far" I think it is blown way out of proportion. I've sat and talked with people on both sides, and I think there is a lot of talking pass one another going on.

I will let y'all know what I think after I've finished these books.

All right. Thanks everyone. I'll check out those resources shortly. My journey into the Reformed camp has certainly been interesting. Here I thought I had found the answers to so many debates I'd previously had, and now I've just discovered a whole new set of controversial issues.

There will always be disagreements. Reading church history and the theologians from the Apostles to today will clearly show that to be the case (among and in every group/sect of Christians)

It is important that we disagree in a godly manner. And we discuss these things knowing that the one who disagrees with me is my brother/sister in Christ and not the enemy. We MUST be civil with one another if at all possible.
