• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I have worried if I am a Christian. I have accepted God, but never got info a consistent scheldule of reading the Bible. I feel different from the world but my relationship with God is poor. I am lazy.

I have struggled with OCD and depression.

The best is not to doubt that you are a Christian for then you receive nothing from our Heavenly Father.:sorry: Thank Him that even though you fall far short of the mark you may still be His beloved child. God will be very happy with you if you do that:amen:.

Always remember that your salvation lays in faith, not in works, if you have faith that Christ saved you then it will always be true, if you work hard to be a good Christian but you doubt your salvation then your hard work will help you nothing for as long as you doubt salvation will slip between your fingers.

So be wise and dare to have faith that Christ saved you and thank God that you with all your short-comings may still be His child and God will be very happy with you.:amen:

He says in His word, "a bruised reed He will not crush." He understands we are bruised and that depression makes things difficult. He's not judging you for that. He know you hurt. He also knows you are thinking about Him and desire to read your Bible even on the days you don't. He is blessed that you think or care about Him at all. He says He knows our frame and knows we are but dust. He doesn't expect nearly as much from us as we do from oursleves.

However, it will help you in your healing if you get His word into you. So here's a link with some Bible verses that will help you. Just click this link: Redeemed and Summoned by Name: Bible Verses for Panic, Depression, Anxiety

Prayers for you, friend,

Can you recall your conversion experience with God? That's where I'd begin, to be sure.

But after that you need to realize that nothing we do gets us or keeps our salvation: it's all about God through Jesus Christ. So not reading your Bible has nothing to do with your salvation, but with your ongoing closeness or lack of relationship on a daily basis with God.

Since you suffer with a disorder, I believe God allows for your struggles in that vein. We all have deficits and God works with us in each one. :)

Keep reminding yourself that you are worrying because of your OCD, not because it's a good reason to worry. Remind yourself when some negative thought or feeling comes through that that is not of God, God doesn't do that, and that it must be from the disorder(s). Keep separating who you are from your disorders and I think you'll begin to realize that God loves YOU as an individual, regardless of how you struggle.
