Doomsday Clock Move Forward

A little game theory would prove that nuclear war is actually a significant possibility, but I'll give you a historical example. In the Cuban Missile Crisis, a Soviet sub approached the American blockade. It had been given permission to deploy nuclear warheads against American targets. The tensions inside the sub rose as the Americans rained depth charges on it. Finally, the captain snapped and ordered a nuclear strike on the American carrier claiming that they were at war, but his co-officer refused. In both we survived through pure luck.

But it didn't. You see I look at it this way, if they would have actually launched a strike, they quite possibly would have never made it out of port in the first place. Not all things happen by random. There is an appointed time for everything, and if it goes against the big plan under heaven, it is thwarted. There is still free will and consequences to the choices we make, but there is a plan and anything that may compromise that plan is known beforehand and can and has been corrected. In this case, a co-officer was used or put in place to carry out the correct choice in that matter. Even Kings cannot take thrones unless it is permissible by God, if a king or ruler were to be on a course to interfere with the grand plan, they may just very well be the guy cleaning the bird poop off of park benches for a living instead.

I find it a little disturbing that you feel that no matter what happens, God will step in and stop self-destruction. Does that mean a recklessly aggressive foreign policy is acceptable because God will stop any major war?

Of course, not everyone subscribes to apocalyptic eschatology.

I'd subscribe to that magazine if it were a good read
Though I just stick to what the bible teaches, it's the best read!

It's very disturbing, I agree.

The clock is irrational; and upon more careful study I have to agree that it seems to have an agenda behind it. Lets look at some history:
1949 - Three Minutes: The reason: The Soviets and The Americans now have tested the bomb.
1968 - Seven Minutes: France and China now have it. Also, wars in the Middle East.
The Situation seems worse between those two times, right? Why did the clock move back?
1998 - Nine Minutes - Now India and Pakistan test. The US and Russia stall in reducing stockpiles.
Again; it got worse, and moved back.
Now; Compare 2007 with 1949
2007 - Five Minutes - Now with 9 countries with the bomb, Iran working on developing. Huge stockpiles stock piles of bombs in the US and Russia. Global Warming. Civil war in Iraq.
Yet; the clock has moved back from 1949 when there were only 2 countries with the bomb.
Frankly, it isn't a logical ruler of the current state of affairs.
