I'm sure he'd just love executing people with guns, grenades, and rocket launchers, don't you?

Dude, you don't know the half of it! Jesus was the Jerusalem champ at Romani Ite Domum, widely considered to be the inspiration behind Unreal Tournament. Even the weapons are the same!

Sadly, none of the arcade machines survived the 8th Century, and we only have a brief mention of it in one of Josephus's writings along with a high scores table.

hey JS, I think Radeons are better video card at the moment... maybe not raw FPS power, but who needs to have 150fps at 1600x1200? I think Radeons have a clearer image. :D

anyways I got an OEM Radeon 9800 128mb for $198

I'm pretty sure they aren't real people Michael, but maybe you have a hard time differentiating between reality and fantasy. So you should probably stay away from such games.

Enjoy the judgment seat you're sitting in pointing your finger at me and others, because by your judgment on me, you shall be judged as well. Remember that.

Hey i've been there done that when it comes to games like this! 4 years of college ranging from Quake, to Half-life, UT, you name it, heck I got involved in clans and the such, so every night at 8pm all 20 of us could duke it out. It was fun!, but is it what God wants you to do?

I don't play games that involve blood, gore, violence anymore; personal choice from holy spirit conviction. This society is obsessed with death, and that is completely against what God wants. And if you deny that you aren't talking to the God I know. I found it was so easy to get caught up in the path this world wants you to take than the path God has laid out for you. The games changed me, something I don't like to admit, but it certaintly wasn't for the better, nor what God wanted for my life.

Imagine if you had kids, or do have kids, would you let them play the games, I would hope if you are Christian the answer would be "No!" How can you tell your kids not to do something, if you're not willing to do it yourself?

Just some thoughts, take it or leave it.

I don't find that most games violence level does anything to me, but I have noticed the serious clans thing does a number on your spirit. They usually spin out of control into backbitting amongst members and rivals, power struggles over vain emblemes of pride, clan leadership, and such. Come to think of it, I think the clans can be worse than the games.

I know a lot of people like ATI, but I've had bad experiences with them in the past and once a company does you wrong over and over again, you tend to stay away from them. They could corner the market and I would have to quit gaming. :) hehe

I know what you're getting at. I quit playing games for a long time for the same reason. I wanted to drop it for a while, fast on it if you will and prove it wasn't an addiction. I rarely ever play games any more. And I won't unless a really great title comes out, which is why I'm excited about this one. :)

Some people have a problem with something others don't. But I too won't do the "clan" thing again for some of the same reasons mentioned in here, but maybe others don't have that problem. God will convict you if you are idolizing something which I'm not. I just enjoy playing games now and again. I have only played games maybe 10 times (for an average of about an hour for the past year or so, so I'd say I don't have a problem with it. And as far as children, I am not one, so that argument doesn't fly here. :)

It's hard for me to get exited about a game I can't play on my riggety old system.

I have to agree with that last post though... partially. The real original originator was a predeseccor of Doom's predeseccor (wolvenstein 3d). On that note; the followup of wolvenstein3d sucked i.m.o.

Wolfenstein 3d was not the first ONLINE fps. Doom was the first true fps to be played over the net.

If Jesus came over tonight I would play a game that he would enjoy. Chess! :)
I don't think he'd have much interest in Half Life or Doom.

To be honest I'm really not sure what the big deal is with the spiritual rights and wrongs of gaming. I was brought up to believe that the Martial Arts were bad and in some cases they are but now I find that I am qualified Jeet Kune Do Instructor.

There are people that don't like it but the path that Jesus has taken me down was not the one I was expecting.

Maybe your right about Jesus not being interested in gaming but personally I believe he is interested in me and so he is interested in what I do too. That includes gaming :)

I put a vote in for DooM3.

Wolf3D was indeed the 1st FPS (no one mentioned online) and DooM was done by the same team as we all know.

What DooM had was what I call "Fear Factor". Sometimes in a level, you didn't want to pick up a key or open a door because you knew that when you did, all the lights would go out, and hords of things would be coming at you from all sides.

This made it classic.

When games went total 3D (lost the sprites and let you look up and down properly) there simply wasnt the processor power around to allow the developers to put those "hords" back in and the fear factor was lost to a degree. (Quake springs to mind, as very seldom where more than 3 enemies coming at you (single player)).

I really think that fear factor came back for the 1st time in Half Life. I think Half Life2 will be a classic and I think both games will push the limits with graphics and AI.

So why did I vote DooM3? Nostalgia probably! A welcome return to the roots of gaming as we know it.

But my best game of all time... (maybe this should be another poll) was Duke Nukem 3D. This had action, story line, humour, and FUN. It fell in the shadow of quake but was a better game IMO. I look forward to Duke Nukem Forever more than anything and while it is probably the most delayed game of all time (and has hence fallen from the public eye) they ARE still working on it and making sure that it will be up-to-date in terms of Graphics and AI. No date set yet AT ALL but no doubt it will be long after the games above have died down and there is room for the return of a true classic.

"Let's Kick a*** and chew bubble gum...and Im all out of gum!"
