Wow. I just downloaded the Doom 3 demo. I looks awesome with all the graphics cranked up. My 5.1 sound setup helps too.;)

I have no intention of buying it, but I just had to say that I'm quite impressed with the graphics. I thought the beginning of the game was actually just CG, until I realized that it was the game. Cool stuff.

If anyone's curious what I'm running this on. Here's the specs:
Pentium 4 3.0 GHz
1 GB RAM (DDR 400 MHz)
Radeon 9200 128 MB AGP

I'm able to run everything to the max with this setup, although it does get a bit choppy when it's crowded. Turning down the resolution to 800x600 makes everything very smooth. It sure does take a lot of power to get good graphics out of this game! At least the demo is free for anyone curious to see how it runs on their machine.

Yeah, the first 10 minutes of the game is definately the best part. It's like "Saving Private Ryan" meets "Event Horizon".

I just started playing it, and I must say, the atmosphere effects are great. I'm only through with the first part of the game. It's so dark...

I haven't seen any demonic images yet, except for the occasional Lost Soul flying through the chest of some human. Ehh... But I've heard that those images will compound as the game progresses. I really don't know whether I'm going to finish this game or not. I may try out some of the non-demonic mods for it as they come out.

Most of you probably won't ever understand what a digital masterpiece Doom3 actually is. For example, the variable of moving your head around has a direct effect on the sound that be commin' out your speakers. i.e. when you turn your head, depending on direction and where the sound is comming from, it sounds differently. Stereo depth perception in sound. Thats a beautiful thing.

Graphics, boom, best I've ever seen in a game, period. No cheesy blocky lookin' stuff. Every room and every door is horribly ornate in detail. And the environment itself is the most interactive I've ever seen. You can knock over chairs, drinks, etc. etc.

Gameplay, fun as ever. Your running around with a gun, shooting zombies and other ghastly creatures. What more could you ask for? That's right, not a whole lot.

Doom3 gets a 10 out of 5.
