I played it when it came out and beat it about three weeks later (casual gamer; moderate setting).
Great graphics, very scaleable, I heard the sound is awesome if you have a DD5.1 set up (which I don't). Light story that does the job and doesn't bog down the action.
All in all a nice change from the "tactical" fps games out there that had quite a few scares along the way.
Multiplayer still wasn't very good last I checked and single player has little, if any, replay value. The final boss is like a console game boss, once you figure out the secret he is easy (the first boss was trickier).
Overall, I really enjoyed it.

I loved Doom1 and 2, but I'm very disappointed in Doom3. I stopped playing about a third of the way through (never got out of the base). As one of my buddies said, "After 2 hours of playing, I wanted the cheat codes so I could just finish the darned thing."

It looks like a really good game, but I saw the minimum requirements and they're very high. My friends are upgrading to meet this demand.

ya you do need to upgrade stuff to play unless you have a 1300 hundred doller computer. like i do not that good it's just like a 500 doller computer. just better mem and hard drive thats all. you could buy all that the extra stuff for 100 dollers. lol. so no point in buying a 1300 hundred doller computer just buy a 500 hundred computer then upgrade it lol less money you have to spend.

Yea definitely a few spooks here and there because of the graphics and environment textures. I have it on medium setting and the graphics are still awesome.

as for doom 3, I was really turned off by the upside down cross with the bloody corpse on it, good action, but shooting things in hell is well wrong.
