  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Don't worry - I'm only 75% right - NT Wright

I have to say that in all the years that I have been preaching I have changed very little. I have grown in truth but the truth hasn't changed.

I too have changed much in my beliefs. I was raised Roman Catholic, then Baptist (Southern), and today I am Reformed/Presbyterian.

I now know that I had serious theological errors then, but I knew the Lord long before I came to the Reformed Faith. I know that there are great men of God with whom I disagree with on many points. I think I am right and therefore they are mistaken, BUT I read them and weight what they say because I know that it is very likely that my own theology (as well as theirs) is still faulty at a number of points.

I believe I am correct theologically in what I believe, but I also know that it is possible (and even probable that I am wrong at a number of points). I think this position helps me to be patient with my brethren with whom I differ, and it helps me to look at and even study those that I disagree with in more honestly.

There was a time when I thought a belief in predestination was a serious distortion of the Gosple; today I know I was wrong. This is true of my how I view baptism also. Those were big issues that I know I was dead wrong on. I am not so foolish as to think I no longer have some errors in my thoughts.

Coram Deo,
Kenith

Which - would you say is N.T. Wright's most controversial book?
Scholarly: Climax of the Covenants
Layman's: What St. Paul Really Said. Also, Paul in Fresh Perspective will probably bring a firestorm, as Wright advances his (I think mistaken) view that final justification (Last Judgement) is by works, not through justification by faith.
