  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

anyone else have this happen?..what do others think?

1 Corinthians 12/14 is the biggest part of the Bible devoted to the subject, & its very worthy of note that the famous chapter on love, (13), is in the middle

See www.BibleGateway.org

Very briefly, the main emphasis is that, just as "God is love", love should be our motive in both seeking & using the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit - not pride or self-aggrandisement

What you have experience is what 1 Cor 12:8 calls "the word of knowledge" - note how wisdom is rated highest of all - & how verse 31 says, "earnestly desire the greater gifts" - emphasising verse 7 - "to each one, the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good"

The last half of the chapter underlines that we are all the different parts of the 1 Body of Christ, & every part needs every other part, so that the whole body may be strong & healthy

1 Cor 14 highlights very much the goal of building up the whole Body of Christ

It is wonderful that this lovely picture applies to each local body of believers, as well as to the church worldwide

God bless!

That happens to me sometimes with my boyfriend, I can know what he is thinking alot of the time, and we always finish sentences and things...

But it happens more so in my prayer life...I could be praying for someone and something that that person is going through pops into my head, and I pray for that and alot of times people say to me, I was going through that, or I had that pain and now its gone. So I guess in some ways its God working through you and giving you the opportunity to "read others mail."

Confirmation is the word that comes to mind.

You need confirmation of this gift's genuineness.

God creted us with powerful imaginations. Keeping the Imagination and true words of Knowledge apart is a gift in of itself!

This is true, also praying for discernment, cos there is also a Devil out there. One needs to be sure that this is of God and for His glory. WOuld be interesting to hear from these folk, cos this is a rather old thread :)

Grace and peace from God and from His Christ.

It is that one of your spiritual senses is more exercised and you are able to percieve (see, discern or understand) the hearts of some people. What sight is to the physical, understanding is to the spiritual. We see in the spirit by the spirit of understanding.

It is up to you to keep it exercised in the service of God according to His will. Be led by the Spirit of God!

You can read in scriptures where Jesus Christ (and other saints) could perceive the hearts of men around him.

Understanding (perceiving or discerning) what is going on in another person's heart is different from finding yourself spiritually feeling exactly what such other person is feeling.

The later is classic intercession and it is the highest form of love.

On one hand, you can spiritually feel the weakness/pain/corruption of another person. Then, it is important and good that you obtain power from God to overcome such feeling within yourself and minister same power unto the person interceded for in order for such person to be delivered from the weakness/pain/corruption.

On the other hand, you can spiritually feel strength/joy/all goodness of another saint. It happened when two pregnant women, Elizabeth Zacharias and Mary Joseph, met before John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ were born. In such a case, praise God, be joyful and thankful unto God - for you are partaking with the spirit of another saint made perfect.

May God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him; the eyes of your understanding being enlightened, that you may know the hope of His calling, and the riches of His glory in you.
