  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This may sound wierd to everyone...but thiers times I will be thinking about someone then its suddenly like I can feel what they are feeling and see what they see...this scares me and I don't understand it....its a very strong feeling like I'm connected to them in some way for a few seconds...this has happened to me several times throughout my life and I have no idea how I do it.

does this happen to anybody else or am I just crazy?

It happens to me alot sometimes. Though in my case people would just call it twin telepathy. Though of some occasions I have been able to feel what Jay is feeling at the time. No I don't think that you are crazy or weird. I think that it is just a gift that God gives some of us, feel blessed that he picked you.

I have never had that happen to me before, and without really knowing what it feels like for you, it sounds like you have an amazing gift that God felt that you can/could handle. Dont be scared... when the scared feeling comes around thats the devil trying to tell you, you are crazy and or weird.

I've had it happen on occasion and have often wondered upon its mystery. I always referred to it as as sort of God-given empathy. You may be able to use it to find people who are depressed/upset and may need a little spiritual uplifting. If you feel it, then act on it. Hunt that person up and ask them how they are feeling/doing. Lots of times, these people will say things are going ok, but they won't admit their true feelings for one reason or another. The trick is to give them some sort of support without seeming like you are prying into their troubles, unless they bring it out in the open.

Allow me to ask a question? When you have this 'empathy' come upon you, are you usually in a deep, relaxed thought process? How about waking from a certain dream and finding that you have a strong impression a certain person may need some kind of help? (Sorry, that was two questions..... )

Everybody's saying that it's a gift from God. How do you guys know that?

Empathy is to do with spirituality, yes. It's also to do with other planes of existence and energy. Alot of people who are empathic follow a heathen/pagan path. I used to follow one myself, yes empathy was involved, as were alot of other 'gifts', and they wound me up in a lot of trouble.

God tells us not to dabble in witchcraft and sorcery, and for good reason. I found that out firsthand! I think developing this gift more would be a form of witchcraft.

Maybe it is a gift, but from God? I have my doubts. I say it's a temptation, and I say ignore it and don't develop it.

PseudAnon, I myself have never dabbled in any form of witchcraft, but I to have the samething that Babygirl is talking about. I have prayed long and hard about why I am able to 'see' and 'feel' other people, though I am no where near them. Through those prayers, I feel that it is truely a gift that God has given me. Not a demonic power. I have had this 'gift' since I was about 3 years old. Trust me I hated it for the longest time, and tried to ignore it, but once I found out why I had it, I accepted it as just another weird trait/gift that I have. I don't go around telling people that I can sense/see what they are feeling, but I do let them know that I am praying for them and their situation.

One example of something that happened quite recently was that when my sister miscarried her baby, the same day that she miscarried I had cramps and pain in that area of my body, we live 500 miles apart from eachother, and don't really talk to eachother much. In fact I hadn't heard from her in over 2 weeks. I called her up and cried with her, she knew that I could feel her pain, as I confide almost everything to her.

well....it scared me at first. But its really ok.

For me its even worse though. I can feel everything going on even in a large group convo (llike everything......) but ive learned to turn that around. It really helps because now i can see my fellowship and church from another angle. Where I thought were problem-less turned out to be problem-ful. so dont be scared really.

Wow.. In a way I think that sort of awesome, that you can see people for who they really are..

{so its a gift?....ok...then why does it scare me?} The reason why it scares you is because your not used to operating in that gift, but the more the Holy Spirit reveals these things about people to you the more at ease you will become, you see the Holy Spirit is standing behind that person and quickens in your spirit what there going through or seeing within you, basically its the Holy Spirit conveying a message to you about them so you can pray for them in those areas hes showing you, so count it a blessing that God is getting ready to use you in ways you've never been used before. :)

So thanks to your gift, you were able to be there for her when she needed you the most. God, through your gift, was telling you that your sister needed you at that time. That is awesome!!!

Hi BabyGirl:

I think I know what you mean. When I was much, much younger (I'm "old" now) I had that happen to me when I was around people...to the point that I could not be around "crowds" because I would pick up "vibes" from too many people. I did not understand it then and finally - as I grew up - got to where I could somewhat ignore it, but it was always "there".

Since becoming a conscious Christian, the Lord has shown me a little bit about what is occuring; so I too would agree with those who have said that you have a sensitivity for others - a gift - that He can develop in you for intercession. What He has shown me (and I have only learned the hard way because I am slow) is that it is a gift that can allow you to pray more effectively for that person at that time; that what you discern about those people should never be talked about with anyone else; and that you should go off alone immediately (or as soon as you can) and pray for that person until you receive peace from Him that your prayer has been answered.

Since God has chosen us from before the world began, His gifts are "in" our spirits always; but to truly glorify Him, we should give them back to Him and allow Him to return them to us in Christ as He chooses. Then you will not be deceived or tempted to misuse them or be puffed up by them.

Seek His guidance first about it. If you have peace in your spirit about it, then practice by acting on it. You will know by the Witness within if it is of the Lord.
