I started a running group with some of the folks from my small group! Most of us are overweight, but we all want to work on improving our fitness with some outdoor running. I figured making a group was a good way to get to trail run without getting murdered. We probably won’t be running anytime soon since it’s FREEZING, but it’s nice knowing the group is there now!

I've been working out consistently every other day. The plan was to do it every day, but I've been in a lot of pain since I started. I do need to stop putting it off until 10-11 PM on workout days lol. Also trying to figure out the best time to take protein around my workouts (is it before or after I lift weights) to gain the most muscle from it. Or if that even matters...IDK.

Have been falling down on the workouts, but doing good with food and food choices! Managed to not snooze this morning (because my alarm was set wrong and I had to rush out of bed or be late), but still counts!! XD

Going into recovery week number two. My shoulders still has not healed. So I'm going to give it a rest especially since I need to focus on getting ready for snow plowing. Rest will be in order immediately after the storm. And hopefully next week I can start back up Aqua jogging and strength training.

My favorite trail system was still closed yesterday, so I drove to another one that I don't ride as often. It's less flowy, but more like what I grew up with. The advanced trail involves lots of steep inclines and rocks. Very slow-going stuff, but more fun than the gravel trails I've been riding when the regular trails are closed. My bike got a few new rock chips from those, unfortunately, but getting out there is more important than a few battle scars on the paint. At least I've been riding semi-regularly, which can be hard to do this time of year.

As my clothes dry in the clothes-dryer tonight, I will be using the weight bench, ab roller, and rowing machine. I'm trying to alternate resistance training days with cardio days, but mountain biking isn't strictly cardio so it might not be ideal but it's better than nothing.

Yesterday's weight lifting session went well. I've been taking it easy with the additional weight, but so far so good.

Tonight, I rode for about 40 minutes on my cycling trainer while listening to lectures. Afterward, I went through some old photos on my laptop. There was a period when I was noticeably skinny fat, but didn't see it at the time. Even my facial structure looked different. If I need additional motivation, I'll refer to those photos from time to time.

Thankfully weight has remained stable despite a few poor holiday food choices, but that might be due in part to getting better sleep. That's another piece of the puzzle. Along with allowing the body time to recover between sessions, giving it adequate time to repair and reset through sleep is important. I find that I have an easier time falling asleep after I've exercised, so it's a self-reinforcing pattern. The trick is to make it a habit, and not just give up because you might have missed a few days or ate a little too much.

@J Mick I think my watch is off on steps. I've been tracking it and I want to say it's more like 10,000 that I get in a 12-hour shift. It's still pretty busy. 2,000 steps just getting the truck ready to go out on the plow route. Sitting broke down right now my hydraulic fluid is out. Not sure where the leak is.

@J Mick yes!!!!! It ended up being somebody I know and he thanked me for the Christmas card I gave him even though he's Jewish. The shop was also awesome and it was good to catch up with them and wish a Merry Christmas!!

Well... I didn't perform so well this month. Going to try harder next month. Now to come up with a catchy title for January... "Just Do It January"? XD
