CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm not sure that is the answer. Should they crank up the volume so that the congregation is annoyed by the noise? It wouldn't cure the problem.george0g said:

It's probably his style. If you get him quieter sticks, he'll probably just hit harder. Take up the highland bagpipes. They can outplay anything. 
Maybe you can have a session specifically focused on making him softer. Everytime he plays to loud, hit him with a rolled up newspaper or something.
Okay, seriously, he probably thinks that his way of playing is best. First you have to convince him otherwise. Then comes the difficult task for him to break his old habits. This is probably not the best comparison, but when I first taught myself pennywhistle, I played English style. Now when I try to play Irish style, it's extremely difficult not to slide into English. The point is that your drummer has to be extremely committed to changing and be willing to put a lot of time into it. It will be like completely relearning. If he's not willing (or able), you'll either have to deal with the noise or get a new drummer.
