This is a quote I created when I cured my depression of loneliness. For those of you struggling with this type of depression, realize that this is what you are doing. You believe that a relationship will make you happy or you are unhappy because you are single. Because of this, you have mentally blocked your happiness from existing until this condition is met.

You have placed a relationship at the center of your happiness rather than God. This results in idolatry of the opposite sex and/or the idea of relationships/marriage in general.

"No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other" - Matthew 6:24

Having this mentality long enough can make you end up turning away from God like it did for this ex-Christian. Perfect example of the bible verse above. So put your faith in God to give you what you desire and live by His word.

"Delight yourself in the Lord: and he shall give you the desires of your heart." - Psalm 37:4

This sentiment is very sound. Don't package deal. At 65 I'm starting to get the hang of bachelor life so in a few years time I'll be eligible!

Especially don't combine "love" with employment or home-sharing. That way people only stop themselves thinking each issue out on its own terms.

Yeah I don't think I know of a single couple that's truly happy. I've accepted that dying single is the most likely scenario, there's always a chance I can meet someone in heaven or new earth. We got an eternity worth of time to meet someone when you really think about it.
