Soon I´ll be 65 yrs and facing retirement in Finland. It never dawned on me before that I was "this old". Most of my work has been with high schoolers and have really enjoyed the work and I suppose it has kept me feeling young.

My thoughts now turn to...what shall I do now?

David.

You are really only as old as you feel.
consider this thought, although don't dwell on it too long.
Some time in the middle of the last century we were born; wow!
Macca.

Haha . . what a thought, Macca! Yes, and I suppose that makes us pretty special!

David. . . perhaps since you have such great experience with youth, your church's youth program could put that expertise to good use. Not many adults are willing to do so, and you more than most know their minds, appreciate their hearts and their unique needs, I would guess?

I'm definitely not ashamed of my age. I the last year both my parents and my brother in law passed on. I'm just 52. My mom was only 78 and very active. It was a surprise that caused me to think about my age and my purpose. Although I'm only 52, I've led a very hard life. As I age, it gets easier each year. I wonder sometimes... when I was young, everyone taught me how to be an adult. I got years of training from parents, relatives, school, church, etc. A few years ago, I realized I was moving into another stage of life and wondered why I was so unprepared for it. Where was all the training and advice for middle age and for seniors? It seems the only advice I got was don't get old! Try to look young and act young. The media tries to get us to hide our age (especially if we are women). Why should I? I've earned every year of my 52 years. It's been hard. I've made a lot of mistakes, but I've grown spiritually. Soon I will be joining my mother in glory. All my life I have prepared for it. This world was never my home. Our time on earth is just a drop in the sea of eternity. Why should we give age on earth so much attention? Why should we judge others by it. Surely we have seniors that have not learned much and young ones that seem wise for their age.

I'm not really ashamed of admitting I'm over 50. I'm just a little embarrassed because my personality doesn't match my age. I'm silly and wholesome. On other forums, folks think I'm young if I don't mention my age. If I don't mention it, and I've been on the forum awhile, I'm uncomfy about admitting I'm 52 because it might throw them into shock.

I'm not ashamed of being over fifty either. In fact I think it's pretty cool. These are the best years of my life. I don't worry about what people think of me as much and feel more in control of myself than when I was younger. Yeah, my mind says I can do anything, but the body won't let me anymore. My kids think I'm pretty young for my age too.

I'm certainly not ashamed of my age, just not particularly thrilled with it. I'm 50.

Yes, I feel the same way Georgia. A lot of my friends are in their forties and early fifties so I sometimes forget that I am on the high side of 50. I am definitely in denial of my age.

Oh yes, I understand Miggles's post
"my voice is young, too. Folks still call here and ask if my mommy is at home"

My Mary is 67 years 'young'
but back in our 'courting days'
pre... our first meeting [?]
She sounded-like
she was just, 18 or 19 years old

Age 'difference' between us ???

non-existent !!!!

I have heard the 'saying'
"you are as-old as the man/ woman, that you feel"

LOL

I just live my life 'DAY, BY DAY'
These 'days'
have been GIFTED to me
or-else,
I would not have survived my past
would-not
have overcome, serious past illness

I would-not have been brought here to CF
and
NOT MET
so-many wonderful new friends
iow: not discovered my Family in Christ

My Saviour
has been so good to this one

Praise the Lord

Me? I want to be like Caleb!

"Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadeshbarnea to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart." Joshua 14:7

"And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the LORD spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.

As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in." Joshua" 14:10-11

Love the words of the word. Great encouragement.

Along the way, there have been promises, one in particular came by seeing something God showed me -a place. 40+ have passed. Yet God is faithful.

Abram recieved a promise and yet had much to live and do and learn, but God was faithful to His promise. These years learning, time itself cannnot remove His purpose to do what He said He would do, and all things heard from God he is faithful to accomplish. and Amen with Him.

Like David in the psalms I want to encourage my soul, "Hope thou in God" always..

I am thinking to look again, Abram, Moses, Esther (who spent 1 year being prepared to go before the King her husband. ) Elisha and Elijah, the younger in following the elder wanted a double portion of the annointing upon Elisha. (1 kings 19)
Persistent, Elijah! How many of the people of God both young and elder, found themselves in God's service.

Something to ponder..the preparing and the continuing , and God's time for His purposes.

This word means a lot to me:
1 Cor. 14 verse 26:

How is it then brethren? when ye come together, every one of you (every one of you!) hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.

It always reminds me of the table that was laid at church , for a fellowship tea, a cloth only on it. Then all that came brought food to lay on it, and slowly the table was full of all good things, That was a beautiful day and a sight to see, all coming with what they had, we had a banquet and fellowship I could not describe just flowed. We all have.. God's word says so and I believe it!
~~~~ poured from my heart. God bless you. jean
Amen! Our time is not God's time. As long as we are alive, God is not through with us yet. I minister at a Nursing Home, and one of the residents recently went on to be with Jesus. She was 104. I can remember her at the services, singing and praising the Lord...She always said, "The Lord woke me up this morning and gave me one more day. Praise Him".
We sing a song, the Inspirations perform it well. It goes, "When I wake up, to sleep no more, happy I'll be on that Golden Shore". "Glory to God I'll have a new body changed in a twinkling of an eye, when I wake up to sleep no more".
Happy a blessed Valentine's day.
