what is a fool? what makes a fool? Some may recall a passage that if you call some one a fool you are endanger of hell. This is a bad translation in fact the word fool is better translated if you curse some you are in danger of hell. My mom use to say damn you damn you damn you when she was mad. This is cursing some one. Lets look at the NLt which translates the word correctly.
Mathew 5:22 22 But I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell.
So you see it is not fool it is if you cruse some one. How do i know because God called people fools. I think we would all agree God practices what He preaches and lives by what He tells us to live by.
Look at Proverbs 12 15 Fools think their own way is right,
but the wise listen to others.
Here we see what makes a fool foolish. An old phrase that use to be used was hard headed. Why are they foolish? Because they can not learn anything they think they know it all already. Or the phrase know it all.
Proverbs 26 Honor is no more associated with fools
than snow with summer or rain with harvest.
Hear God is speaking of the honor among men. Now the Bible also says Honor your mother and father. What does all this mean? Listen to your mother and father. Hear in Proverbs we see it speaks of the Honor of men. I am very familiar with this. I trained at a gym and we were taught honor above all else. Thing is there is no true honor among mankind. What we did is rituals, the bow or lowering of the head, the snap to attention it was all meaning less. Honor among men is flattery of the persons ego. This is not how we are to be. God said do not sit at the seat of honor or else you maybe asked to move and be embarrassed instead sit at the lowest seat, then you will be honored in front of everyone when the Master ask you to sit next to Him. Jesus was speaking of Himself as the Master. The only true honor there is comes from God. True Honor from men comes in humbling ones self to God and others. That is God's honor, but it must be sincere.

The man is a fool because he is lying to himself, he deceives his self. In his heart he know God is real the signs are all around, but this man devices him self lies to himself the signs are not there they are not real. The man who says there is no God is at war with himself. It is a war which will do no good and lead to hell. The man is cursing himself, sounds pretty foolish no?
Psalm 49 10 Those who are wise must finally die,
just like the foolish and senseless,
leaving all their wealth behind.
11 The grave is their eternal home,
where they will stay forever.
They may name their estates after themselves,
12 but their fame will not last.
They will die, just like animals.
13 This is the fate of fools,
though they are remembered as being wise.
Hear we see the pursuit of worldly things is foolish, namely fortune and fame. WHy is it foolish? Because it is simple you can not take it with you when you die, it is not eternal, other people will spend your riches, your name will be forgotten in this world no matter how much fame you have, if your soul goes to hell what good did all that fame and fortune do you? It was a meaningless life.
Lets look at Psalms 53 it is the same as Psalms 14, but lets look at the whole thing.

Do you know what this is about? Give you a clue when God restores His people. It is speaking of the end of days. What is God judgement about this generation, they are fools. We were once fools to for there was a time we did not think of God and we were foolish. They say youth is foolish and they are correct. I can not tell you how many stupid things i did in my youth. But why is this generation foolish? Because it says there is no God because they think God will not return, because they give not one thought to the future does that about some up the world today? I think so, look at how we pollute the earth, make more weapons of mass destruction. The world give not one thought for tomorrow. I know I give thought. I invested in Jesus, I put my soul in His hands and my life. I trust in Jesus. That is what makes the child of God wise. But the foolish mock children of God they laugh at them. They did the same during the flood with Noah and building a giant boat. See the parallel? The Bible says as it was in the days of Noah so shall it be again. Anyone doubting we are in the end of days? you shouldn't.

Remember how these fools insult you all day long.
23 Don’t overlook what your enemies have said
or their growing uproar.
Again what is the judgement Fools insult God. Not even fallen angels are so arrogant to speak one word again God to God, yet mankind does it often even challenging God to do something. I think we all can see why this is foolish.
